MSc Cognitive Science

Eligibility:

Minimum Eligibility Criteria

Students who have a Bachelor’s degree (e.g. B.A., B.Sc., B.Tech, BCom, MBBS) in any discipline with a minimum of 55% (5.5 CGPA for students with letter grades/CGPA) aggregate marks for General/OBC category candidates and at least 50% (5.0 CGPA for students with letter grades/CGPA) aggregate marks for SC, ST and PD category candidates in the qualifying degree, are eligible to apply for admission to the Master’s program in Cognitive Science. Students who would be completing Bachelor’s degree in the academic year 2019-2020 are also eligible to apply.

The short-listing of the applications is based on the overall credentials (Marks in the qualifying examinations, academic achievements and aptitude for cognitive science. The eligibility criteria mentioned above is minimum. The committee may use higher cut-off levels for shortlisting.

Financial Support

Eligible candidates admitted to MSc Cognitive Science program will receive a monthly scholarship of Rs. 5,000/-. The stipend support will be renewed per semester subject to a student’s continued satisfactory progress in the program.

Institute encourages MSc students to present their research work at national and international conferences, and provides travel scholarships of up to Rs. 60000/- to such students.

Hostel Facility

All students admitted to MSc Cognitive Science is eligible for hostel accommodation on a sharing basis.

Eligibility:

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

The minimum criterion to apply is a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 55% marks (or equivalent CPI/GPA). Please note that meeting the minimum application criterion will not guarantee admission to the program. The students who are awaiting final semester/year results and those who would be completing a Bachelor’s degree in the academic year 2018-2019 are also eligible to apply. Eligibility requirements for SC/ST/OBC candidates will be in accordance with the Supreme Court guidelines. The short-listing of the applications will be based on the overall credentials (marks in the qualifying examinations, academic achievements, and aptitude for the study of society and culture, etc). Established by the Government of Gujarat, under the flagship of Home Department - Government of Gujarat. The Gujarat Forensic Sciences University is a highly specialized higher education institution that came into existence through an Act: No. 17, passed by the Gujarat State Legislative Assembly, dated the 30th of September 2008. Age Limit:

·         For Indian Nationals in General Category and General EWS Category:  Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 2000 are eligible to apply for admission.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Design

Eligibility:

(The qualifications mentioned are required to be from accredited/recognised institutes or universities of India1 OR equivalent qualifications from foreign educational institutes2.)

To be eligible for selection to the PhD programme, the candidate must be a citizen of India and hold at least one of the following qualifications:

A Master’s level qualification3 in Design,

OR

A Bachelor’s level qualification in Design4 from NID,

PLUS

A minimum of 3 years of professional or teaching experience.

OR

Master’ s degree in Philosophy(eg, M.Phil) in Design

OR

Successful completion of Faculty Development Programme of NID

or

of a similar program for the Design field of at least two years from any other recognised University.

Candidates who are scheduled to complete the final year of their qualifying examinations and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply for the PhD programme. In such cases, their candidature shall be provisional and confirmation of selection shall be subject to successful completion of the qualifying exams. Provisional acceptance will be confirmed only if the candidates secure the minimum grade/marks in their qualifying examination and submit its results to the Institute before the commencement of the programme. Failing this, the provisional status granted to such candidates shall automatically stand cancelled.

Chemical Engineering: The following is Eligibility Criteria of Chemical Engineering department for PhD admission)

1. Master's degree in ChemicalEngineering/Technology or a Master's degree by Research in ChemicalEngineering/Technology. Candidates must have obtained at least 60% marks (or 6.5 Grade Point out of 10) (55% marks for SC/ST) in their Master's(Must have BTech/BE in Chemical Engineering also). OR

2. Exceptional candidates having B.Tech/B.E (Chemical Engineering) qualification with valid GATE score can apply for direct admission to PhD programme. OR

A candidate with a Bachelor's degree (Chemical Engineering) from any IIT and having a CGPA/CPI score of 8.00 (out of 10.0) and above are exempted from requirement of GATE qualification to apply.

Mechanical Engineering: 1) Master's degree in Engineering/Technology or a Master's degree by Research in Engineering/Technology. Candidates must have obtained at least 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA out of 10 in their Master's. OR

2) Master's degree in Sciences with a valid score in GATE/UGC/ CSIR/NET/NBHM or equivalent qualification. Candidates must have obtained at least 65% marks or 7 CGPA out of 10 in their Master's. OR

3) Exceptional candidates having B.Tech/B.E degree with at least 65% marks or 7 CGPA out of 10 and valid GATE score can apply for PhD programme. The candidate who are in final year (seventh semester) of their B.Tech/BE program should apply under Direct PhD program (as per Direct PhD norms). OR

A candidate with a Bachelor's degree from any IIT and having a CGPA score of 8.00 out of 10 and above are exempted from requirement of GATE to apply.

The relaxation in eligibility and reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PwD will be as per the rules of Govt. of India.

Metallurgical and Materials engineering: Master's degree in relevant Engineering/Technology or a Master's degree by Research in relevant Engineering/Technology. Candidates must have obtained at least 60% marks (or 6.5 Grade Point out of 10) (55% marks for SC/ST) in their Master's. OR

Exceptional candidates with B.Tech./B.E. degree in relevant Engineering/Technology or Master's degree in Sciences with a CGPA/CPI score of 8.00 (out of 10.0) or above with a valid score in GATE/UGC/CSIR/NET or other equivalent national exam. A candidate with a Bachelor's degree from any IIT and having a CGPA/CPI score of 8.00 (out of 10.0) or above are exempted from requirement of GATE qualification to apply.

Candidates who are currently studying in final year of their B.Tech/B.E. program should apply under Direct PhD program.

2.    Ph.D in Sciences:

Chemistry: Masters or equivalent degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry/ Materials Science and Technology/Pharmaceutical Sciences/Biotechnology/Physics or relevant areas with First Class (6.5 grades point out of 10) or 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST).

Candidates meeting this requirement must also fulfill one of the following additional requirements with valid

a) GATE Qualification

b) UGC/CSIR-NET or Equivalent qualification.

c) DST-INSPIRE or other national fellowship

Candidates with M. Tech or equivalent with First Class (6.5 grades point out of 10) or 60% marks are exempted from requirement of GATE qualification

Mathematics: Master’s Degree in Mathematics/Statistics/Theoretical Computer Science or equivalent Master’s Degree with First Class (60% marks or 6.5 grades point out of 10 ),  55% marks or 6.0 grades point out of 10 for SC/ST.

Candidates  meeting this requirement must also fulfill one of the following additional requirements with valid:

a) UGC/CSIR- NET or GATE or equivalent qualification

Biomedical Engineering: 1. 3. A bachelor's degree in engineering (BE /BTech) or pharmacy (BPharm), with a minimum of 65 percent marks (7.0 grade points on a scale of 10) and a valid GATE score.
