Design Aptitude Test DAT 2018, National Institute of Design NID DAT 2018

About NID DAT 2018:

For the Academic Year 2019-20, the National Institute of Design (NID) invites online applications for the following Programs from Indian and International Applications:

·         Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) [at NID Ahmedabad Campus] Duration: 4 years

·         Master of Design (M.Des) [at Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Bengaluru Campus] Duration: 2.5 years

·         Graduate Diploma Program in Design (GDPD) [at Vijayawada & Kurukshetra] Duration: 4 years

National Institute of Design (NID) conducts NID Design Aptitude Test 2019 will offer admissions to aspirants in the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) as well as Master of Design (M.Des) Program on the basis of their performance in the entrance test.

The National Institute of Design (NID) offers 4-years Bachelor of Design (B.Des) Program at Ahmedabad and 2½ years Master of Design (M.Des) Program at Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar; Bengaluru Campuses and Graduate Diploma Program in Design - GDPD - 4 years at Vijayawada & Kurukshetra.

Note: The National Institute of Design has authorized the All India Management Association, New Delhi, to process all its applications for the M.Des., B.Des. and GDPD programmes.

Eligibility:

For B.Des & GDPD:

All applicants applying for the B.Des and GDPD programs must fulfill both the following criteria; of age and education qualification:

Age Limit

·         For Indian Nationals in General Category: Upper age limit for candidates is 20 years as on 30th June 2019. Only those candidates born on or after 01st July 1998 are eligible to apply

·         For Indian Nationals in Reserved Category (OBC-NCL, SC, ST): Upper age limit for candidates is 23 years as on 30th June 2019. Only those candidates born on or after 01st July 1995 are eligible to apply

·         For Indian Nationals in PwD Reserved Category: Upper age limit for candidates is 25 years as on 30th June 2019. Only those candidates born on or after 01st July 1993 are eligible to apply

·         For Foreign Nationals in Overseas (Supernumerary) Category: Upper age limit for candidates is 20 years as on 30th June 2019. Only those candidates born on or after 01st July 1998 are eligible to apply

Educational Qualification:

Applications for academic year 2019–19 are open to applicants who have passed or will appear for higher secondary (10+2) qualifying examinations in the academic year 2019-20 in any stream (Science, Arts, Commerce, etc.) from any recognised board of education such as CBSE, IB, ICSE or their equivalent

Exams considered equivalent to these are as follows:

·         Final examination of the 10+2 system under a central or state board recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU, Refer www.aiuweb.org)

·         Intermediate or two-year pre-university examination under a board or university recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU, Refer www.aiuweb.org)

·         Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy

·         Senior secondary school examination under the National Institute of Open Schooling, with a minimum of five subjects

·         Any public school, board or university examination completed in India or in any foreign country recognised as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU, Refer www.aiuweb.org)

·         H.S.C. vocational examination

·         General Certificate Education (GCE) examination at the Advanced (A) level taken in London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka

·         High School Certificate Examination from Cambridge University or an International Baccalaureate diploma from the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva

·         Candidates who have completed final examinations for class XII (or equivalent) outside India or from a board not specified above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) confirming that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the Class XII examination conducted in India

Overseas Category (Supernumerary) candidates:

Foreign citizens - applicants holding citizenship of a country other than the Republic of India - are eligible to apply only under the overseas (supernumerary) category, provided they fulfill all the eligibility criteria.

For M.Des:

All applicants applying for the M.Des. Programme (any discipline) must fulfill both the following criteria; of age and education qualification

Age Limit:

·         For Indian Nationals in General Category: Upper age limit for candidates is 30 years as on 30th June 2019. Only those candidates born on or after 01st July 1988 are eligible to apply

·         For Indian Nationals in Reserved Category (OBC-NCL, SC & ST): Upper age limit for candidates is 33 years as on 30th June 2019. Only those candidates born on or after 01st July 1985 are eligible

·         For Indian Nationals in PwD Reserved Category: Upper age limit for candidates is 35 years as on 30 June 2019. Only those candidates born on or after 01st July 1983 are eligible

·         For Foreign Nationals in Overseas (Supernumerary) Category: Upper age limit for candidates is 30 years as on 30 June 2019. Only those candidates born on or after 01st July 1988 are eligible to apply

Educational Qualification:

·         In addition to the above, the candidate must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications to be considered eligible for admissions:

·         Bachelor degree of minimum 4-year duration in any specialization, after 10+2 system, from any university or institute recognised by law in India; Condition: Applicant must (have passed/have appeared for/be appearing for) the Bachelor degree exams before June 2019 or

·         Bachelor degree of minimum 3-year duration in any specialization, under the 10+2 system. Applicants must have passed the Bachelor degree exams before July 2018; or

·         Full-time Diploma of minimum 4-year duration in Design/Fine Arts/Applied Arts/ Architecture, after 10+2 system, from any university or institute recognised by law in India. Condition: Applicants must (have passed/have appeared for/be appearing for) the Diploma Exams before June 2019

Overseas Category (Supernumerary candidates):

Foreign citizens - applicants holding citizenship of a country other than the Republic of India - are eligible to apply only under the overseas category, provided they fulfill all the eligibility criteria. Of the seats available for the M.Des, 15% supernumerary seats have been created for overseas applicants.

Design Aptitude Test (DAT)

All candidates applying for B.Des, GDPD and M.Des Programs and having made the necessary payment for registration online will be called for the Design Aptitude Test

The Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Prelims primarily evaluates each candidate on the following abilities:

·         Knowledge

·         Analysis

·         Comprehension

·         Creativity

·         Visualisation

DAT Prelims will consist of two parts:

Part I: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) marked out of 70 points. The responses of this part will be recorded on an OMR sheet and evaluated digitally

Part II: Subjective questions marked out of 30 points, with responses to be provided in visual and/or written formats. The Design Aptitude Test (Prelims) will include an examination of three hours duration

This will be a pen-and-paper test.

The question paper will be in English. All questions are compulsory.

There will be no negative marking.

DAT Mains 2019 Exam Pattern

DAT Mains 2019 will consist of tests in different formats such as drawing/sketching, hands-on model making, group discussions, presentations, etc.

These will be marked out of 100 points and will be conducted in English

NID DAT Merit List 2019

Based on the scores obtained in the Design Aptitude Test (DAT), separate NID DAT 2019 Merit Lists will be prepared for each category (Open, OBC-NCL, SC, ST &PwD). Based on the merit list of DAT Prelims, eligible candidates will have to appear for DAT Mains

The number of candidates shortlisted will be no less than three times the number of seats available per category in that discipline or program. The final merit lists for the B.Des. programs will be generated category wise, based on the sum total of the weighted scores obtained by the candidate at each stage of the admission process

Test Centres for DAT 2019

DAT will be conducted in the following cities in India: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Ranchi, Thiruvananthapuram, and Vijayawada

How to Apply:

NID 2019 Application Process:

·         Candidates aspiring for admission to the programs may apply online or download application form from our official website and follow the steps below:

·         Read and apprise yourself with the information on eligibility criteria, number of seats, test centres, reservation policy and other relevant information related to admissions to B.Des and M.Des Programmes at NID in the Admissions Information booklet available on the website

·         Application Form of NID 2019 is available from 09th November 2018 onwards. Aspirants will be able to fill the form in online mode only. The application fee is Rs.2000/- for General category candidates and Rs.1000 for SC/ST/PwD candidates

·         Relevant information related to admissions to GDPD Program at NID Vijayawada is provided in the NID Vijayawada prospectus, available on the website.

Application Fee:

Candidates can pay the application fee via Online (by Credit Card/ Debit Card) or by Demand Draft. If paying the fee by DD take a printout of their NID Entrance Exam 2019 application form and thereafter send it along with the DD. Also, aspirants need to fill all the details regarding their DD in their online application form

Eligibility and Selection Process:

1.    Only Candidates who have appeared at Common Admission Test (CAT) 2018 conducted by IIMs/Xavier Admission Test (XAT) 2019 conducted by XLRI, Jamshedpur /NMAT 2018 conducted by Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) are eligible to apply.

2.    A candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India, with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate in all semesters/trimesters or equivalent CGPA, of any University incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956.

3.    The Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education.

4.    In case of the candidates being awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the equivalence would be based on the overall equivalence certified by the university/ institution from where they have obtained bachelor's degree.

5.    In case a candidate establishes that the university/ institution from which he/she graduated, does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by the PDPU-SPM by dividing earned CGPA with the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the quotient with 100.

6.    A candidate appearing for the final year semester examination of bachelor's degree or equivalent can also apply. Such candidates must have to obtain 50% marks or equivalent in aggregate of all the semesters/years.

(a)  Such candidates, if selected, will be allowed to join the programme provisionally with an undertaking to submit the final marks sheet/grade sheet not later than September 30, 2019 and the passing certificate not later than June 15, 2020 to the School.

(b)  However, the admission shall be cancellable without informing the candidate if the final marks sheet/grade sheet and the degree certificate are not submitted latest by September 30, 2019 and if the candidate has not met the prescribed eligibility criteria, in such case the fees paid will not be refundable except the deposit money.

(c)  Non-fulfilment of the above conditions/dates will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission, otherwise the admission shall stand cancelled and the fees paid will not be refundable except the deposit money

Selection Process: The candidates who appeared at CAT – 2018/XAT – 2019 and seek admission in the MBA Programme have to apply in the prescribed form, which is available on www.spm.pdpu.ac.in. The candidates short listed on the basis of aggregate CAT/XAT score will be required to appear for group discussion (GD) and personal interview (PI) at SPM, PDPU or may be at other select locations (subject to minimum applications) on the specified date(s).

Group Discussion (GD): The group discussion (GD) shall be held in a group of about 10-12 students. Students appearing at GD shall be evaluated on the set criteria.

Written Ability Test (WAT): Students shall be required to submit a written assignment on the topic announced at the time of GD and PI.

Personal Interview (PI): Students appearing at PI shall be evaluated on the set criteria. Relevance of work experience, wherever applicable may be assessed at this stage.

The GD and PI will take place for MBA programme during March 9 – 12, 2019 with an approved schedule (the GD/PI schedule will be uploaded in the School’s website).

Admission Process: Candidates have to apply via any of the following two options mentioned below:

Option 1: BY APPLYING OFFLINE: By downloading the Admission Application Form and sending the duly filled- in application form (available at Offline Admission Form) along with the payment of the application fee of Rs. 1,000 (non-refundable). The application fee can be paid via a demand draft drawn in favour of Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University, payable at Ahmedabad. Candidates are required to send filled application form by registered post, or through DTDC courier to reach us on or before the last date specified. For late receipt of the forms or loss of form in transit beyond prescribed last date, SPM-PDPU shall not be responsible.

Admission Procedure:

·         For Admissions 2019, IRMA will be giving two types of calls to the prospective candidates:

·         Profile Based Calls

·         Non-Profile Based Calls

·         Candidates who score above 80 percentile in CAT 2018/XAT 2019 and fall in the Profile based call criteria are eligible to be shortlisted for IRMA SAT and GA and PI process.

·         Candidates who score above 85 percentile in CAT 2018/XAT 2019 and fall in the Non-Profile based call criteria are eligible to be shortlisted for IRMA SAT and GA and PI process.

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Eligibility:
A three-year bachelor's degree (10+2+3) or equivalent in any discipline from a recognized university with at least 50% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA. 

Candidates appearing in the final year of the Bachelor's Degree can also apply provided they furnish the proof of having met the minimum eligibility criteria by September 20, 2019. They should have appeared in all the examinations of their graduation by the time of commencement of the programme. The candidates failing to meet the minimum eligibility criteria will be asked to withdraw from the programme. The tuition fee paid by such candidates will be forfeited unless such vacant seats are filled by other candidates.

How to Apply:

Application Procedure: Application and Entrance Test (Common Admission Test)

Entrance Test: Applicants are required to appear for the Common Admission Test [CAT 2018] conducted by Indian Institute of Management (IIM). The CAT examination conducted at different centres all over the country on 25th November 2018 [refer CAT Bulletin for further details at https://iimcat.ac.in/ The candidates aspiring for admissions at the Institute of Management, Nirma University are required to apply to the Institute separately. The Institute will receive the test scores from IIM for those candidates applied to the Institute. 

IIM, have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of the programme.
Foreign students/NRI/Person of Indian origin/Gulf Countries and South Est Asia candidates can be considered for admission on the basis of their GMAT scores also [not taken before July 2017].

However, NRI sponsored candidates will be considered for admission only on the basis of CAT-2018 scores. GMAT scores will not be considered for NRI sponsored categories.

Online Application Form: Applicants should complete the online application form through visit the college website with non-refundable admission processing fee of Rs. 1500/- or US $35. The payment should be made online by credit card/debit card/net banking.

Candidates applying under categories such  NRI/NRI Sponsored/Foreign students/Person of Indian origin holding foreign passport/Gulf Countries and South East Asia candidates should make non-refundable admission processing fee of Rs. 6000/- or US $135. 

A candidate who has applied for admission under general category can convert the application to any other category in which she or he is eligible. In such case, the candidate is required to make a payment of an additional processing fee of Rs. 4500/- or US$ 100 and submit it along with a written application referring the original Application Form No. on or before the last date.

About College:

The decade following independence in 1947 was witness to a surge of innovative ideas to build a fledgling independent nation into a model democratic state committed to growth with equity in the development of its people. The establishment of Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) was the outcome of one such innovative initiative. Led by Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, Shri. Kasturbhai Lalbhai and proactively supported by the then Chief Minister of Gujarat, Dr. Jivraj Mehta, a group of enlightened individuals set up IIMA. This group ably wove together a coalition of five actors - the governments at the centre and the state, the local industrialists, the Ford Foundation and the Harvard Business School, in a true spirit of public private partnership to establish the Institute.

Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) [Specialization in: (1) Business Policy, (2) Economics, (3) Finance & Accounting, (4) Food & Agribusiness, (5) Human Resource Management, (6) Information Systems, (7) Innovation and Management in Education, (8) Marketing, (9) Organizational Behaviour, (10) Production and Quantitative Methods, and (11) Public Systems]

Eligibility:

Basic Eligibility Criteria:

The candidate must hold, subject to the condition laid down below,

1.    “A Master’s Degree in any discipline, with at least 55 percent marks, AND with at least 50 percent marks in the Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification (minimum three years of bachelors level education after the completion of higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent”. (OR)

2.    Five year/four year Integrated Masters Degree programme in any discipline, with at least 55 percent marks, obtained after completing Higher Secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent. (OR)

3.    A professional qualification like CA, ICWA, CS, with at least 55 percent marks. (OR)

4.    A 4-year/8-semester Bachelor's degree with at least 60 percent marks or equivalent grade point average.

Condition:

The Master's degree or equivalent qualification/Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification should be: (a) from any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956; or (b) recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India or (c) possess an equivalent qualification from an institution approved by AICTE. The Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing Higher Secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.

Candidates who are in the final year of their Master's/Bachelor's Programmes that would make them eligible, can also apply. Such candidates, if selected, will be allowed to join the programme provisionally only if they submit a certificate latest by June 30, 2019 from the Principal/Head of the Department/Registrar or Director of the university/institute (issued on or before June 30, 2019) stating that they have appeared for the examinations (including practical examinations) in all the subjects required for obtaining the Master's/Bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification. Their admission will be confirmed only when they submit the mark sheet and a certificate of having passed the master's/bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification referred to in the certificate issued by Principal/Registrar of their college/institute. The deadline for submission of mark sheet and the certificate is December 31, 2019. Please note that those candidates who have applied on the basis of their master's degree will have to meet the 55% marks stipulation, and those who have applied on the basis of their bachelor's degree will have to meet the 60% marks stipulation. Non-fulfilment of these conditions will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission.

Selection Process:

Candidates applying to the Fellow Programme in Management are required to take the Common Admission Test (CAT) or a standard test in lieu of CAT. For NRIs and Foreign students this standard test is the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

How to Apply:

Application Form and Brochure will be available online. Candidates can fill-up the application form online and is eligible to apply for a maximum of three Areas of high levels of specialization. An application fee of Rs. 500/- can be paid through IIMA gate way. The last date for submitting the application will be January 24, 2019.
