PhD Programme in Science (industry Sponsored candidates):

Personnel from industry holding a M.Sc. (or equivalent) degree in Sciences

Sponsored candidates who wish to apply for admission to a PhD program (of AcSIR) at CSIR-NCL are requested to get in touch with CSIR-NCL well in advance (preferably before the end of August for the January semester or preferably before the end of March for the August semester) and identify a suitable research advisor depending on the area of research interest of the applicant. The application process will be the same as that for regular candidates. However, sponsored candidates will have to download the filled application form (from AcSIR website) and send the hard copy (by mail or in person) to CSIR-NCL (Student Academic Office, CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory, Pune 411008) along with the company's No Objection Certificate, a letter of willingness from a Group IV scientist in NCL to be the guide, a passport size photograph, degree certificates, grade/ marks sheets, caste certificate and any other relevant documents. The hard copy of the application along with all relevant documents should reach CSIR-NCL before the last date stipulated by AcSIR. The screening and selection procedures will be the same as that for regular candidates. See AcSIR website for more information.

Selection Procedure:

Admission is through an initial screening based on minimum eligibility criteria followed by personal interview.

Candidates applying to the PhD programme who fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria as mentioned on the main page may apply online at the link provided. The list of candidates eligible for appearing for the interviews, after initial screening, will be uploaded on this website. Final list of eligible candidates under different disciplines will be announced after the interviews.  Students may consider staying back in Pune for two to three days more after the interviews, so that in the event of their selection, they may complete the counseling and selection of research guides. Counseling will be held on the next day after the interviews. Details of counseling will be announced at the time of the interviews. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the screening test and/or interview or at the time of joining.

a.    NITIE Admission Test and Writing Skills Test: The admission test shall have three sections namely Analytical Skills, Logical Reasoning, and Research Aptitude. For writing skills, applicant will be asked to write summary (150-200 words) of Research/General article.

b.    Research Presentation and Personal Interview: Research Presentation will be based on the research proposal submitted by the applicants. This would be followed by a Personal Interview which will be based on subject knowledge, motivation for doing research, communication skills and overall assessment.

Stage 3: Final Merit List

Final merit list shall be prepared based on the performance of the candidates in the different evaluation components such as admission test, writing skills test, past academic achievements, research presentation and personal interview.

The International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS) serves as a regional Institute for Training and Research in Population Studies for the ESCAP region. It was established in Mumbai in July 1956, till July 1970 it was known as the Demographic Training and Research Centre (DTRC) and till 1985 it was known as the International Institute for Population Studies (IIPS). Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) is the premier R&D organization of the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Ministry of Communications & Information Technology (MCIT) for carrying out R&D in IT, Electronics and associated areas.  Different areas of C-DAC, had originated at different times, many of which came out as a result of identification of opportunities. The setting up of C-DAC in 1988 itself was to built Supercomputers in context of denial of import of Supercomputers by USA. About College:

NITIE Alumni Association (NAA) has been functioning to maintain the alumni relations of NITIE amongst the past students. Maintaining a strong alumni relations program is essential to the growth and development of our institute. With this motive in mind, the Executive Committee of the NAA has approved a proposal to create a Corpus Fund from the Alumni of NITIE. The donations will be accepted for both specific projects and general purposes. General contributions will be credited to the corpus fund. The management of the fund will be looked after by a committee chaired by the director and comprising of two senior faculty members and two representatives of Alumni.

To ensure that the alumni of NITIE continues to be closely knit, NAA organizes Regional Alumni Meets every year to facilitate better interaction amongst the alumni and to strengthen their links with the institution. Last year we had the Chennai alumni meet at the picturesque Buena Vista beach resort at Neelangarai beach. Despite a heavy downpour, games like beach football and Housie were played followed by an elaborate two hour lunch.

Eligibility 

Institute uses CAT 2018 (Common Admission Test) scores for shortlisting/selecting the candidates for PGDIM and PGDISEM programmes. The candidates should follow the CAT 2018 advertisement of IIMs. However, IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of NITIE Programmes.

ELIGIBILITY & SELECTION:

INDIAN STUDENTS

Engineering/Technology graduates in any branch with aggregate* 60% marks (relaxation of 5% in case of SC/ST/PwD (Persons with disabilities) candidates) and a valid CAT score. The reservation of seats exists for SC/ST/OBC-NC (Non-Creamy) and PwD candidates as per Govt. of India rules.

Final year Engineering/Technology candidates can also apply, provided they qualify the above criteria for exams appeared till date. Students appearing for final year exams in 2019 will be permitted to submit their result by September 30, 2019. Their admission will stand cancelled in case they fail to meet the qualifying requirements.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for Group Discussion & Personal Interview at NITIE, Mumbai.

SC/ST candidates are granted Central Sector Scholarship as per the scheme of Govt. of India vide letters No.11016/19/2005.SCD-1 dated 21.06.2007 & No.19012/36/-5-Education dated 27.06.2007 subject to the satisfactory fulfillment of terms and conditions mentioned therein.

ELIGIBILITY & SELECTION:

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

15% of the approved intake (in supernumerary quota) will be reserved for international students in each programme offered by NITIE. Entry level qualification shall be at par with that of Indian students as specified above and the candidates should have a valid GMAT score. Foreign candidate should have a valid TOEFL or IELTS score. All the candidates are required to have a minimum of 18 (eighteen) months of stay at overseas countries as on last date of submission of application as prescribed. All international candidates must submit a SOP (Statement of Purpose) and two LORs (Letters of Recommendations) in soft copy. Shortlisted candidates should attend the interview along with Indian students; if not feasible, there is an option for interview through video conferencing.

General Instructions about applying:

APPLICATION PROCESS

Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria should apply for the programme only through an online process by visiting the admissions link on the TISS website on or before March 20, 2019.

Candidates will enter the online application process by giving their authentic email id. To this email with a link to set a password and access the application.

Candidates are expected to use the same email id and password for the entire process till the completion of the admission process.

Candidates will have an option to fill the form and complete the processes entirely at one go or fill partially and save the form for completion before the due date.

Candidates are encouraged to complete the process at the earliest and not delay the process of online submission till the final date.

Candidates are expected to give their preference for one centre only in the online application. This preference cannot be changed through a phone call or email or in person.

Application fees of Rs. 1025 for General and OBC candidates and for eligible candidates (SC/ ST and OBC (NC) family income less than 2.5lakhs and OBC-NC candidates with income less than 1 lakh) the fees would be Rs. 250 + bank charges can be paid online through Credit card/ Debit Card/ Online transaction. Candidates applying online will be asked to choose between two modes of payment 'Cash' or 'Payment Gateway' in the online application form. If the preferred mode of payment is 'Cash', a payment challan has to be downloaded from the 'Download Challan' tab. Deposit the cash amount mentioned on the challan in any branch of State Bank of India. The bank will return two copies of the challan copy (Student Copy and TISS Copy) with the bank’s seal, signature and journal number on it.
