About College:

The Indian Institute of Science Education & Research (IISER) Mohali was established in 2007 by the Government of India, through the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), to carry out research in frontier areas of science and to provide quality science education at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. The foundation stone was laid on 27th September 2006 by the Prime Minister of India. The first Director Prof.N Sathyamurthy joined on 18th June 2007. Classes for the first MS (Int) batch began on 16th August 2007. The transit campus was inaugurated on 13th November 2007.

MS (Integrated) Program

The 5 yr MS (Int) program in Science at IISER Mohali admits students after 10+2. The course structure is interdisciplinary & research oriented in nature, with a focus on the basic sciences. The first two years of the program constitute a common core with courses from Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematics & Computer Science, Humanities & Social Sciences, as well as Interdisciplinary courses. The MS degree is awarded in the subject in which the student opts to major in, after the core years. In the fifth year, the students will undertake a research project, and participate in state-of-the-art scientific research at IISER Mohali's research labs. The graduates are expected to take up science as a career, although the diverse skills gained will equip them to pursue high-profile careers in any field, including industry.

Research Program

The major focus at IISER Mohali is to create a world class scientific institution with an intellectually alive atmosphere of research. The doctoral program at IISER Mohali involves course work, a qualifying examination, thesis work and a thesis examination, leading to the award of a PhD degree. Besides research, students will be involved in several professional activities such as seminars, workshops, and review meetings. The institute has provision for a number of post-doctoral fellowships. Faculty research spans a diverse spectrum of interests ranging from structural, cellular & molecular biology, immunology, evolutionary biology and protein folding & misfolding in Biology, theoretical inorganic, organometallic chemistry, X-ray crystallography and spectroscopy in Chemistry, algebra, algebraic geometry, functional analysis, differential geometry and computational number theory in Mathematics, to quantum information theory, biomolecular NMR & quantum computing, statistical mechanics, ultrafast lasers, nonlinear dynamics, astrophysics, string theory and low temperature nanoscale systems in Physics.Research infrastructure available at IISER includes a computing facility, a sophisticated instrumentation facility housing NMR spectrometers, single crystal and powder X-ray diffractometers and a modern fast growing library.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications: Candidates must have passed HSLC or equivalent with a minimum of 45% in the aggregate and 50% of marks for GEN/OBC (45% of marks for ST/SC/PH candidates) in Science, Mathematics (or Advanced Mathematics) and English taken together

Age limit: The age of the candidates as on 1st August of the year of admission must not exceed the following age limit for different categories- (i) GEN/OBC-19 years; (ii) SC/ST/PH-24 years; (iii) Female Candidates-22 years

Admission Procedure 
A candidate may be admitted into the Diploma program of CIT in two ways

The candidate has to clear the CITEE-2018 entrance examination followed by counseling at CIT, Kokrajhar. The second way is to appear in Polytechnic Admission Test (PAT) 2018 conducted by Director, State Council for Technical Education (SCTE), Guwahati, Assam

The candidates appearing in PAT are to attend counseling called by SCTE whereby their eligibility would be verified and their admission forwarded to CIT, Kokrajhar

Out of the total seats, 85% of seats shall be filled up by the candidates qualified by CITEE-2018 and remaining 15% of seats shall be filled up by the candidates through PAT-2018 conducted by SCTE, Assam

Reservation Policy 
In filling up of the available seats, the institute shall follow the following reservation policy

60% from BTAD (60% ST, 5% SC, 15% OBC and 20% General)

20% from North-East region excluding BTAD

17% from All India excluding North-East Region

03%for physically handicapped candidates irrespective of region

Entrance Exam Pattern

The Entrance Examination is conducted in three hours of duration with a total of 150 marks

The question paper consists of five (5) sections of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and English.

Twenty five questions are set from each section carrying one mark each with the exception of Mathematics from which fifty questions are set.

The questions are of multiple choices with four options of answers.

About College:

Swami Vivekananda established Ramakrishna Mission as commanded by his Master, Sri Ramakrishna, for the secular and spiritual amelioration of humankind as a whole, irrespective of caste, creed, colour, nationality, gender or religion. The twofold aim of the Ramakrishna Mission is, in Swami Vivekananda's own Sanskrit slogan, atmano mokshartham jagaddhitaya cha ("For one's own spiritual emancipation and for the welfare of the world"). To achieve this aim at both the individual and the collective level, he established the Ramakrishna Mission, by which he "set in motion a machinery which will bring noble ideas to the door of everybody." Swamiji envisioned it as "a lever for the good of humanity…which no power can drive back." Swami Vivekananda made Belur Math the headquarters of the worldwide Ramakrishna Movement, comprising the twin organizations of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission. He envisioned that Belur Math would be a centre of great harmony and synthesis, not only of all religious beliefs and traditions, but also of arts and sciences and the various branches of knowledge, both secular and spiritual. In fact, on 2 July 1902, just two days before he passed away, he prophesied, standing at the Belur Math grounds: "The spiritual impact that has come to Belur [Math] will last fifteen hundred years, and it will be a great University. Do not think I imagine it; I see it."

About College:

NITIE Alumni Association (NAA) has been functioning to maintain the alumni relations of NITIE amongst the past students. Maintaining a strong alumni relations program is essential to the growth and development of our institute. With this motive in mind, the Executive Committee of the NAA has approved a proposal to create a Corpus Fund from the Alumni of NITIE. 

The donations will be accepted for both specific projects and general purposes. General contributions will be credited to the corpus fund. The management of the fund will be looked after by a committee chaired by the director and comprising of two senior faculty members and two representatives of Alumni. 

To ensure that the alumni of NITIE continues to be closely knit, NAA organizes Regional Alumni Meets every year to facilitate better interaction amongst the alumni and to strengthen their links with the institution. 
Last year we had the Chennai alumni meet at the picturesque Buena Vista beach resort at Neelangarai beach. Despite a heavy downpour, games like beach football and Housie were played followed by an elaborate two hour lunch. 

The Bangalore alumni meet of NITIE was held on 22nd of May at Taj Gateway. A lot of fruitful discussions took place about the recent happenings in NITIE and the changes that have taken place in the last 3 years. 
The Delhi alumni meet of NITIE was held on 15th of May at West End Inn. Mr. A Srinivasan from IE 1 batch also attended the meet and shared the genesis of NITIE. The star attraction of the meet was Dumb Charades wherein M/s. Akhilesh Tuteja and Avatar Mahajan won a lot of goodies. 

The Kolkatta meet was held on 29th May, the venue being the Taj Park Street. The alumni caught up with the status quo at NITIE regarding placements, infrastructure, faculty etc. Other cultural activities were also conducted. 

Yet another initiative by the NITIE students to strengthen bonds with the alumni is the monthly newsletter titled ???Lakeside Musings??? meant exclusively for private circulation among the alumni. 

The alumni committee expresses its deep gratitude to the distinguished alumni for their affection and co-operation in organizing/participating in the meets and for their wonderful appreciation of the newsletters.

Indian Students:

1) GATE (2018) qualified students with 60% aggregate marks at graduation in Engineering, Technology in any branch for PGDIE program. For PGDMM & PGDPM students with following engineering disciplines can only apply - Mechanical, Production, Automobile, Chemical, Civil, Textile, Electrical, Electronics & other relevant branches such as Industrial Engineering, Instrumentation & Industrial electronics.  However, candidate with Civil Engineering background will not be considered for PGDMM. Reservation and 5% relaxation on 60% aggregate marks are applicable to SC, ST, PD candidates as per Government of India rules for the programs. Only GATE qualifiers get Teaching Assistantship (at present @Rs. 8000/- per month) and contingency expenditure as per rules.     

2) Sponsored Candidates:

Few seats in PGDIE, PGDMM and PGDPM are available for Sponsored Candidates. Sponsored Candidates must be from:

a) Reputed Industrial Organization, Academic Institution.

b) Required to have atleast 2 years of full time relevant experience after graduation in Engineering, Technology.

c) NOT required to give the GATE conducted by IITs. However, they may have to attend a Written Test, Personal Interview to be conducted at the Institute.

d) Sponsored candidates should also fill in the sponsorship form available on the NITIE website and also produce sponsorship certificate in the specified format from their employer. No Teaching Assistantship is granted to sponsored candidates.

 3) Candidates who are currently in their final year of Engineering, Technology degree can also apply. They are required to:

a) Complete their examination, viva voce etc. 

b) Submit the final year mark-sheet and provisional certificate.

c) The final results should indicate qualifying degree with 60% aggregate marks (5% concession in case of SC, ST, PD candidates), else the admission to the program stands withdrawn.      

4) Duration of work experience specified, if any, should be after graduation.

5) Reservation for SC, ST, PD and OBC candidates belonging to the “Non-Creamy Layer” is as per the Government of India rules.

6) Certificates in support of SC, ST, PD, OBC Non-Creamy Layer, as applicable to be produced at the time of GD, PI with self attested.

7) The Application Fee is Rs.1000 (Rs 500 in case of SC, ST, PD candidates) for applicants from India and SAARC countries.

a) The details of the payment of fees are to be provided to complete the filling up of the application form.

b) The Application fee has to be physically deposited in any of the branches of SBI or ICICI bank through challan payment. Payment can be made online through payment gateway of ICICI. Online option is also available for SBI account holders through I Collect facility.

8) Candidates are requested to bring two sets of Application Form along with all original and photocopies of all certificates, marksheets, experience certificates for verification at the time of GD, PI.

International Students:

a. 15% of the approved intake (in supernumerary quota) will be reserved for international students in the above PG programme offered by NITIE.  Entry level qualification shall be at par with that of Indian students as specified above. Admission cut-off will be based on valid GRE Scores. Students from non-English speaking countries should have a valid TOEFL Score. International Students should attend the interview along with Indian students; if not feasible, there is an option for interview through video conferencing.

b. Application fee is USD 50, plus bank charges as applicable for International students.

1) GATE (2018) qualified students with 60% aggregate marks at graduation in Engineering, Technology in any branch for PGDIE program. For PGDMM & PGDPM students with following engineering disciplines can only apply - Mechanical, Production, Automobile, Chemical, Civil, Textile, Electrical, Electronics & other relevant branches such as Industrial Engineering, Instrumentation & Industrial electronics.  However, candidate with Civil Engineering background will not be considered for PGDMM. Only GATE qualifiers get Teaching Assistantship (at present @Rs. 8000/- per month) and contingency expenditure as per rules.     

2) Sponsored Candidates:

Few seats in PGDIE, PGDMM and PGDPM are available for Sponsored Candidates. Sponsored Candidates must be from:

a) Reputed Industrial Organization, Academic Institution.

b) Required to have atleast 2 years of full time relevant experience after graduation in Engineering, Technology.

c) NOT required to give the GATE conducted by IITs. However, they may have to attend a Written Test, Personal Interview to be conducted at the Institute.

d) Sponsored candidates should also fill in the sponsorship form available on the NITIE website and also produce sponsorship certificate in the specified format from their employer. No Teaching Assistantship is granted to sponsored candidates.

 3) Candidates who are currently in their final year of Engineering, Technology degree can also apply. They are required to:

a) Complete their examination, viva voce etc. 

b) Submit the final year mark-sheet and provisional certificate.

c) The final results should indicate qualifying degree with 60% aggregate marks (5% concession in case of SC, ST, PD candidates), else the admission to the program stands withdrawn.      

4) Duration of work experience specified, if any, should be after graduation.

5) Reservation for SC, ST, PD and OBC candidates belonging to the “Non-Creamy Layer” is as per the Government of India rules.

6) Certificates in support of SC, ST, PD, OBC Non-Creamy Layer, as applicable to be produced at the time of GD, PI with self attested.

7) The Application Fee is Rs.1000 (Rs 500 in case of SC, ST, PD candidates) for applicants from India and SAARC countries.

a) The details of the payment of fees are to be provided to complete the filling up of the application form.

b) The Application fee has to be physically deposited in any of the branches of SBI or ICICI bank through challan payment. Payment can be made online through payment gateway of ICICI. Online option is also available for SBI account holders through I Collect facility.

8) Candidates are requested to bring two sets of Application Form along with all original and photocopies of all certificates, marksheets, experience certificates for verification at the time of GD, PI.

International Students:

a. 15% of the approved intake (in supernumerary quota) will be reserved for international students in the above PG programme offered by NITIE.  Entry level qualification shall be at par with that of Indian students as specified above. Admission cut-off will be based on valid GRE Scores. Students from non-English speaking countries should have a valid TOEFL Score. International Students should attend the interview along with Indian students; if not feasible, there is an option for interview through video conferencing.

OR

Diploma holders with two years full time work experience at executive/supervisory level. Organizational sponsorship is preferred. Non-sponsored employed candidates may also be considered provided their applications are accompanied by a “No Objection Certificate” from their employers.

Students graduating from IB schools are exempt from appearing for the SET

Foreign Students who have graduated from their 12th from India are required to appear for the SET
