About College:

Vinoba Bhave University is the fruit of a years long endeavour by the people of Hazaribag. Although the history of higher education in the town goes way back into the past, beginning with the establishment of St Columba’s College in 1899 by the brothers of the Dublin Mission, post-graduate curricula were commenced here only in 1972 with the introduction of MA courses in History and Economics. Subsequently, the college was converted into a post graduate centre of RanchiUniversity. By January 1983, post graduate teaching was extended to four more subjects with the approval of the Government of Bihar - English, Hindi Political science and Mathematics. Finally, by Act 3 of 1990, the Bihar state assembly amended the Bihar state Universities Act 1976, carving Vinoba Bhave University out of Ranchi University. It was aptly named after the great saint and pioneer of the Bhoodan Movement, Acharya Vinoba Bhave, as the sage had received here the biggest land donation in the whole of India for social reconstruction. 

The foundation stone of the University was laid on 17th January, 1990 by the erstwhile Chief Minister of Bihar, Dr Jagannath Mishra. After two years, (Late) Dr Vinodini Terway was appointed the first Vice Chancellor of the University. She took over charge on 17th September, 1992.

University of Allahabad (AU), Allahabad has announced the exam dates for Post Graduate Admission Test (PGAT 2016), which will be conducted in May 2016. The PGAT will be held during Wednesday, May 25, 2016 to Monday, May 30, 2016. PGAT is conducted for taking admission to Master of Arts (M.A), Master of Science (M.Sc), Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Earth System Sciences and Master of Performing Art (MPA) programs for the academic session 2016.

Eligibility Criteria for PGAT 2016:

·         For M.Tech Program: Candidates should have master’s degree in Physical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Life Sciences, Geosciences, any cognate discipline or a B.Tech. B.E with marks, CPI not below the 55% marks, 5.5 (on a 10 point scale) (50% for SC, ST candidates) for appearing in the entrance exam.

·         For M.Sc Programs: A candidate who has passed, appeared in bachelor’s degree (10+2+3) examination with science subject from a recognized university.

Application Procedure for PGAT 2016:

Candidates can apply online.

Paper Pattern for PGAT 2016:

·         The entire entrance will be completed in one shift with a minimum of 1 hour and maximum of 3 hours based on number of subjects student wish to apply.

·         The paper will be divided in two sections namely Section A and Section B.

·         The section A will be General Aptitude Test and will be common to all the disciplines of PGAT having 40 questions. The question will be based General Awareness, Current Affairs, General Science, Reasoning, Quantitative Ability, General Hindi and General English.

·         The section B will be subject Proficiency Test and will be based on the subjects in which candidate wish to take admission. There will be 35 questions for each subject.

·         The candidate will get 03 marks in the common paper and 06 marks in the paper of the subject for each correct answer. There will be minus marking for wrong answers and the candidate will be given -1 mark in the common paper and -2 marks in the paper of the subject for each wrong answer.

Downloading of admit card: Saturday, May 21, 2016.

Toget into an MCA program through lateral entry, you need to have passed a recognized 3 year (minimum) Bachelor’s degree in BCA, B.Sc. (Computer Science, Information Technology) with mathematics as a course at 10+2 level or at graduate level and obtained at least 50% (45% in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying degree examinations.

How to Apply:

·         Candidates have to submit only one application form as the form is common for all 3 entrance test.

·         Candidates have to pay an entrance test fee of Rs. 500 (Rs. 250 for SC, SCA, ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu on production of a copy of permanent community certificate in card format) for either one (M.B.A. or M.C.A. or M.Tech,  M.Arch, M.Plan, M.E) of the programs.

·         Candidates who want to appear for more than one program have to pay Rs.500 (Rs. 250 for SC, SCA, ST candidate belonging to Tamil Nadu) for each additional program that they want to appear for.

Registration process

1. Registration in person: Hall tickets will be issued to the candidates at the co-ordinating centers who come in with their 10th and 12th std. mark sheets (or 3yr diploma certificate) and cash or demand draft for the entrance test fee. 
2. Registration through internet can be done by logging on to website. The filled-in downloaded application form should be sent along with the demand draft and photocopies of certificate to 'The Secretary, TANCET, Centre for entrance examination, Anna University, Chennai-600025

3. The demand draft should be drawn in favor of 'The Secretary, TANCET, Anna University, Chennai payable at Chennai obtained from any nationalized bank.

About College:

Agricultural education was first started in Bihar in 1945 with the establishment of Bihar Agricultural College at Sabour in the district of Bhagalpur. Later on, it was realised that the agricultural situation and features of the plateau region of South Bihar is different from the rest of Bihar. Hence there was a need of a second college for this region. Ranchi Agricultural College was established in 1955, Ranchi Veterinary College in 1961 and College of Forestry in 1980. Considering the importance of agricultural education for the agricultural development of the state, the first Agricultural University in Bihar – Rajendra Agricultural University was started in1971 with its headquarters at Pusa. In view of the specific agriculture features of Chotanagpur and Santhal Parganas, the establishment of a secondAgricultural University, for this region of the Bihar State, was conceived.

Birsa Agricultural University was established on 26th June, 1981 after its formal inauguration by the then Prime Minister of India, Late Smt. Indira Gandhi. Its primary objective is to develop area specific technologies and manpower in the field of agriculture, animal husbandry and forestry for the agricultural development of the plateau region of Bihar and economic upliftment of tribal and other backward class population of the region. The programmes and activities of education, research and extension are carried out through three faculties (Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry and Forestry) with thirty five departments, College of Biotechnology, six Directorates, three Zonal Research Stations and farms, one University farm, sixteen Krishi Vigyan Kendras, Computer Centre, Central Library and other infrastructure and service units.
