AIIMS was created in 1956 to serve as a nucleus for nurturing excellence in all aspects of health care Creating a country imbued with a scientific culture was Jawaharlal Nehru's dream, and immediately after independence he prepared a grand design to achieve it. The dreams of Nehru and Amrit Kaur and the recommendations of the Bhore Committee converged to create  a proposal which found favor with the government of New Zealand. A generous grant from New Zealand under the Colombo Plan made it possible to lay the foundation stone of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in 1952.The AIIMS was finally created in 1956, as an autonomous institution through an Act of Parliament, to serve as a nucleus for nurturing excellence in all aspect of health care.

2.      Candidates are required to give order of preference for six new AIIMS like institutions apart from AIIMS Delhi. No documents are to be attached with the AIIMS UG 2017 application form.

Jawaharlal  Institute  of  Postgraduate  Medical  Education  and  Research,  Puducherry  (JIPMER)  under Government of India since the year 1956, is one of the leading Medical Institutions of India. Spread over a sprawling 195 acre campus in an urban locale of Puducherry (formerly Pondicherry), JIPMER is 170 kms by road from Chennai.

JIPMER has been declared as an Institution of National Importance by a Parliamentary Act, i.e. JIPMER, Puducherry, Act, 2008. A copy of the Act was Gazette notified on 14-7-2008 to enforce this Act. Candidates should be completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December 2017, the year of his, her admission to the 01st year MBBS, i.e. they should have been born on or before 01st Jan. 2001. (Request for relaxation from the prescribed age limit will not be considered for any category of applicants)

No upper age limit

The applicants should have passed the qualifying examinations in the manner mentioned below:

a) The Higher, Senior Secondary Exam or the Indian School Certificate Exam which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher, Sr. Secondary Exam after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of such study comprising Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Bio-technology (which shall include practical tests in these subjects) or any other elective with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the NCERT after introduction of the 10+2+3 educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education (Annexure-I lists the exams recognized by JIPMER)

b) Candidates who have passed the qualifying exam other than those mentioned in the list appended in Annexure-I, will have to submit an Eligibility Certificate before admission is finalized. Obtaining such an Eligibility Certificate from Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi is essential for OCI, NRI for admission to JIPMER M.B.B.S. Course

c) Applicant must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Bio-technology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Bio-technology at the qualifying exam

d) For candidates belonging to the SC, ST or Other Backward Classes, OPH the minimum marks obtained in the Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Bio-technology taken together in the qualifying exam is 40%

e) For OPH candidates in general category the minimum marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology taken together in the qualifying examination is 45%

Entrance Exam

Entrance Exam will be conducted through a Computer Based Test (CBT) [Online] only. The examination shall be held on Sunday, 04th JUNE, 2017

The duration of the examination shall be 2½ hours (Two hours and Thirty minutes)

The Online (CBT) Entrance Examination will be conducted in two shifts:

(a) Morning Shift, First shift: 10.00 AM to 12.30 PM

(b) Afternoon Shift, Second shift: 03.00 PM to 05.30 PM
Therefore all candidates will be required to appear at CBT Online Entrance Examination, which will be conducted on Sunday, 04th June 2017 in either one of the shifts (10.00 AM to 12.30 PM (OR) 03.00 PM to 05.30 PM) as allotted by the competent authority

Swami Vivekananda established Ramakrishna Mission as commanded by his Master, Sri Ramakrishna, for the secular and spiritual amelioration of humankind as a whole, irrespective of caste, creed, colour, nationality, gender or religion. The twofold aim of the Ramakrishna Mission is, in Swami Vivekananda's own Sanskrit slogan, atmano mokshartham jagaddhitaya cha ("For one's own spiritual emancipation and for the welfare of the world"). To achieve this aim at both the individual and the collective level, he established the Ramakrishna Mission, by which he "set in motion a machinery which will bring noble ideas to the door of everybody." Swamiji envisioned it as "a lever for the good of humanity…which no power can drive back." Swami Vivekananda made Belur Math the headquarters of the worldwide Ramakrishna Movement, comprising the twin organizations of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission. He envisioned that Belur Math would be a centre of great harmony and synthesis, not only of all religious beliefs and traditions, but also of arts and sciences and the various branches of knowledge, both secular and spiritual. In fact, on 2 July 1902, just two days before he passed away, he prophesied, standing at the Belur Math grounds: "The spiritual impact that has come to Belur [Math] will last fifteen hundred years, and it will be a great University. Do not think I imagine it; I see it."

Eligibility and Selection Procedure for MSc Physics in Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University, RKMVU, West Bengal

Students who will be completing B.Sc with Honours/Major in Physics during the current academic year or who have completed during the previous year, with at least 60% marks in the Honours/Major Subject (taking into consideration the marks obtained in the examinations conducted so far) from any university. approved by University Grants Commission (UGC) are eligible to apply.

SC/ST candidates will enjoy 5% concession in the minimum eligibility of marks.
