·         General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.

·         High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.

·         Candidates who have completed Class XII (or equivalent) examination outside India or from a Board not specified above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities to the effect that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the Class XII examination.

·         In case the Class XII examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have Passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University)

Note: Aspirants who have appeared at the annual examination in the year 2019 and have been placed in compartment will not be eligible for admission for the year 2019.

How to Apply:

For admission to B.Des. programme 2019, all candidates need to register and fill the application ONLINE only by accession DTU website before June, 30, 2019. A candidate seeking admission to the course of study leading to the award of a Degree of Doctor of Philosophy must possess at least one of the following qualifications:

Eligibility:

Candidates desirous of admission to IIST must satisfy ALL eligibility criteria detailed below.

(i) Citizenship: Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply for admission in IIST.

(ii) Date of Birth: Candidates belonging to General, EWS and OBC-NCL categories must have been

born on or after October 1, 1994. Candidates belonging to SC/ ST and PD categories must have born on or after October 1, 1989.

The date of birth as recorded in the certificate of high school/ first Board/ or its equivalent will be accepted. If the certificate does not mention the date of birth, candidate must, at the time of accepting the seat, submit an authenticated document from a competent authority indicating the same.

(iii) Minimum Marks Requirement in Qualifying Examination: Candidates must have secured at least 75% aggregate marks in the Class XII (or equivalent – see below for list of Qualifying Examinations) Board examination. The aggregate marks for SC, ST and PD candidates should be at least 65%. The marks scored in the following five subjects will be considered for calculating the aggregate marks:

CATEGORIES OF Ph.D. STUDENTS

The Institute admits Ph.D. students under the following categories:

REGULAR

A student in this category works full-time for his/her Ph.D. degree. He/she receives assistantship from the Institute or fellowship from any recognized funding agency depending on GATE/NET (UGC/CSIR)/other qualification.

SELF-FINANCED

A student in this category works full-time or part-time towards the Ph.D. Programme. The Institute does not provide any assistantship/fellowship to such a student.

PROJECT-STAFF

This category refers to a student who is working on a sponsored project in the Institute and is admitted to the Ph.D. Programme to work on a full-time basis. The remaining duration of the project at the time of admission should be at least one year. If the project gets completed before the student completes his/her Ph.D. Programme, his/her category will be converted to that of Self-Financed category.

PART-TIME

A student in this category is a professionally employed person, who pursues the Ph.D. Programme while continuing the duties of his/her service in NIT Mizoram or elsewhere. The Institute does not provide any assistantship/fellowship to such a student

BASE is being modelled on the lines of the celebrated London School of Economics. The first batch of B.Sc. (Honours) Economics was admitted in June-July 2017, through an All India Entrance test conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), Government of Karnataka, Bengaluru and the classes for this pioneer batch began from 28th August 2017, at the Department of Visual Arts, Bangalore University, Jnana Bharathi campus, Bengaluru. Dr. Manmohan Singh gave some very important advice to the students. and the Key Note Speaker of this occasion was Dr. C Rangarajan, former Governor of Reserve Bank of India and the Chairperson of the Prime Minister’s Advisory Council. He spoke about the current economic situation and the future of Indian economy.

Eligibility:

An all India level examination will be conducted for selecting the students to five years integrated M. Sc. (Honours) in Economics course with an option to exit after three years in B.A.S.E. For admission to five years integrated M.Sc (Honours) in Economics course, the candidate should have passed in 2nd PUC / Equivalent Exam with English as one of the Languages and Mathematics as a core subject and obtained a minimum of 65% marks in aggregate (60% for SC and ST).

Reservation of seats: 60% seats are reserved for students of Karnataka and remaining 40% seats are reserved for students of all States of the country including Karnataka. Of the 60% seats reserved for students of Karnataka, 20% is reserved for Scheduled Caste and 10% for Scheduled Tribe students. 2.    GATE / Non-GATE candidates’ entry criteria:

For candidates with valid GATE score, shortlisting for interview will depend on the cut-off score decided for each program.

For candidates WITHOUT GATE score (essentially the sponsored candidates), for academic year 2019-20, selection will be through a written exam and/or interview. Decision to conduct this written exam to be made depending on the number of GATE applicants in the program.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for a written test and interview. Final selection will be made based on the performance in written test/interview, GATE score and previous academic performances taken together.

Eligibility for Sponsorship Category

Sponsorship basis: Valid GATE score is not required. These candidates will have to qualify in a subject-wise written test/interview. Such candidates will not be eligible for M.Tech. scholarship. The candidate should have worked for the sponsoring organization for at least two years and need to submit a No Objection Certificate, leave approval for at least two years and the company should guarantee continued employment during the period of study.
