About College:

National Institute of Rural Development is an autonomous organisation of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. The institute's services are available to different ministries/ departments of the Central and State Governments, banking institutions, public and private sector organisations, civil society organisations and other national and international agencies connected with rural development. NIRD aim is to examine and analyse the factors contributing to the improvement of economic and social well-being of people in rural areas on a sustainable basis with focus on the rural poor and the other disadvantaged groups through research, action research and consultancy efforts and facilitate the rural development efforts with particular emphasis and focus on the rural poor by improving the knowledge,skills and attitudes of rural development officials and non-officials through organising training, workshops and seminars.

College Facilities

It is a world class center for rural development training and research. NIRD has every facility in-house for trainees and participants from India and abroad. 13th Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Development Management (PGDRDM) January-December 2017

Eligibility:

Eligibility and Selection Procedure for 12th Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Development Management PGDRDM in National Institute of Rural Development, NIRD, Hyderabad

Graduation in any discipline from a UGC recognised University. Students who are in the final year and expect to complete all the requirements of graduation before 1 st January, 2017, may also apply.

SELECTION PROCESS: Selection of candidates will be made through a process of All-India Entrance Test which will test the verbal, quantitative and analytical competencies of the students including English Language. Group Discussion and Personal Interviews will be conducted for the short-listed candidates.

ENTRANCE TEST: The Entrance Test will be conducted on 06.11.2016 at the following centres: Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur,Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, New Delhi, Patna, Pune and Thiruvanantapuram. However, the NIRDPR reserves the right to cancel any of the centres or add new centres for any administrative reasons and assign any other centre to the applicants.

PROGRAMME DURATION: (One year) January 2017 – December 2017

COURSE FEE: For Open / OBC Category Rs.1.60 Lakhs (excluding boarding and lodging) For SC/ST/PWD category Rs.1.25 Lakhs (excluding boarding and lodging)

Board and Lodging: The annual board and lodging expenses will be Rs.1,00,000. Accommodation will be given to the students in the NIRDPR Hostel.

Caution Deposit: A refundable Caution Deposit of Rs.10,000 is to be paid along with the First Trimester Fee.

Seat Registration Fee: Upon selection, a non-refundable Seat Registration Fee of Rs. 20,000 should be paid by the Indian students. This amount will be adjusted against the First Trimester Fee.

SCHOLARSHIPS: 1. Ten students will be eligible for NIRDPR’s Scholarship based on their performance. 2. The North Eastern Council, Shillong, will be approached for giving fellowships to economically backward students of North Eastern states.

RESERVATION: Reservations for the students of the SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer) and Persons with Disability (PWD) will be made as per the Government of India norms.

PLACEMENT: NIRDPR will make efforts for placement, but does not guarantee the same.

Burdwan is an anglicised version of the Sanskrit Vardhamana and the corresponding Bardhaman in Bengali. The origin of this name dates back to sixth century BC and is ascribed to the twenty-fourth Jain Tirthankar, orVardhamanswami, who spent some time in Astikagrama, according to the the Jain Kalpasutra. This place has been renamed as Vardhamana in his honour. A second view holds the literal meaning of the name, a prosperous and growing centre, to argue that this place represented a frontier colony of the progress of aryanisationthrough the upper Ganga valley. However, the Aryans failed to proceed further east. So, the name was retained. Archeological evidences suggest that this region, forming a major part of Radh Bengal, could be traced even back to 4000-2000 BC.

The bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of 3 years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent

In case of the candidates being awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the equivalence would be based on the equivalence certified by the university/institution from where they have obtained bachelor’s degree

In case the university/institution does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by the SPM by dividing earned CGPA with the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the quotient with 100

Selection Process:

The candidates who appeared in CAT-2016 and seek admission in the MBA programme must apply in the prescribed form

The group discussion (GD) shall be held in a group of about 10-12 students
