JIPMER invites Applications for MBBS Entrance Exam 2019 is conducted by Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) for admission to MBBS Course for the academic session 2019

awaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Puducherry (JIPMER) under Government of India since the year 1956, is one of the leading Medical Institutions of India. Spread over a sprawling 195 acre campus in an urban locale of Puducherry (formerly Pondicherry), JIPMER is 170 kms by road from Chennai.

JIPMER has been declared as an “Institute of National Importance” by an Act of Parliament, JIPMER, Puducherry, Act, 2008. A copy of the Act was Gazette notified on 14-7-2008 to enforce this Act. Prior to this the Institute was functioning under the administrative control of Directorate General of Health Service, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi.

The Institution is now empowered to award Medical Degrees, Diplomas, etc., under the clauses 23 & 24 of the said Act. Such Degrees / Diploma, etc., shall be deemed to be included in the schedules to the respective Acts governing Medical Council of India, Indian Nursing Council and Dental Council of India, entitling the holders to the same privileges as those attached to the equivalent awards from the recognized Universities of India.

DURATION OF COURSE: Duration of the MBBS course is 4 years and 6 months as per the Academic Calendar of JIPMER followed by ONE year of Compulsory Rotator Internship for award of Degree.

DISTRIBUTION OF SEATS: Common Entrance Examination for 200 Seats (150 seats at JIPMER, Puducherry + 50 seats at JIPMER, Karaikal)

ENTRANCE EXAMINATION:

·         Entrance Examination will be conducted through a Computer Based Test (CBT) [Online] only.

·         The examination shall be held on Sunday, 02nd JUNE, 2019.

·         The duration of the examination shall be 21⁄2 hours (Two hours and Thirty minutes).

·         The Online (CBT) Entrance Examination will be conducted in two shifts:

Morning Shift / First shift: 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM

Afternoon Shift / Second shift: 03:00 PM to 05:30 PM

·         Therefore all candidates will be required to appear at CBT Online Entrance Examination, which will be conducted on Sunday, 02nd JUNE, 2019 in either one of the shifts (10:00 AM to 12:30 PM (OR) 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM) as allotted by the competent authority

·         The venue, time and shift of the examination will be communicated to the candidates in the Hall Ticket.

·         No candidate will be permitted to appear in the examination unless he/she holds a valid "Hall ticket" issued by the Institute and a proof of his / her identification.

METHOD OF ENTRANCE EXAMINATION:

·         The examination shall be conducted in ENGLISH medium ONLY.

·         The Entrance Examination is common to all and consists of 200 single best response type MCQs having four alternatives and the questions will be asked from the following subjects. The distribution of number of question is as detailed below:-

Physics: 60

Chemistry: 60

Biology: 60

English Language and Comprehension: 10

Logical & Quantitative Reasoning: 10

TOTAL: 200

·         The questions for JIPMER MBBS Entrance Examination 2019 will be based on the syllabus as prescribed by State Board Hr. Sec. and CBSE for XI & XII Standards.

·         Candidates are advised to go through the Mock Test for computer based Test (online examination). Link for mock test is available on JIPMER’s Website JIPMER MBBS Entrance Examination – 2019 link.

Eligibility:

(i)           The Applicant should be an Indian National / Overseas Citizen of India.

(ii)          He/ She has completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December 2019, the year of his/her admission to the first year M.B.B.S i.e. they should have been born on or before 01-01-2003. (Request for relaxation from the prescribed age limit will not be considered for any category of applicants).

No upper age limit.

(iii)         The applicants should have passed the qualifying examinations in the manner as mentioned below:

(a) The Higher / Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher / Senior Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of such study comprising Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Bio-technology (which shall include practical tests in these subjects) or any other elective with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training after introduction of the 10+2+3 educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education (Annexure - I list the examinations recognized by JIPMER)

(b) The Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination other than those mentioned Prospectus in the list appended in Annexure – I, will have to submit an Eligibility Certificate before admission is finalized. Obtaining such an Eligibility Certificate from Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi is essential for OCI/NRI for admission to JIPMER M.B.B.S. Course.

(c) The applicant must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology /Bio-technology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Bio-technology at the qualifying examination for general (UR) / EWSs category.

(d) For PwD candidates in general category the minimum marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Biotechnology taken together in the qualifying examination is 45%.

(e) For candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribe or Other Backward Classes / PwD, the minimum marks obtained in the Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Bio-technology taken together in the qualifying examination is 40%.

Note: Applicants who have appeared or will be appearing in the qualifying Examination in March / April 2019 and whose results have NOT yet been declared can also apply for admission, if other eligibility criteria (i) (ii) & (iii) are satisfied.

Please note that issue of hall ticket for the Entrance Examination does NOT necessarily mean the acceptance of eligibility for candidates whose results of qualifying examinations are yet to be declared.

Towards meeting the growing demand of manpower in the field of technology, the then Delhi Administration, with the approval of Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Govt. of India, established a new Engineering College by the name of Delhi Institute of Technology (DIT) in July, 1983. In the year 1983, the Institute started with the academic program at UG level in the area of Electronics & Communication Engineering with an intake of 45 Students under the Faculty of Technology, University of Delhi. New programs in the areas of Computer Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, and Manufacturing Processes & Automation Engineering were added subsequently. Administrative autonomy was granted to the institute in 1986. Eligibility:

A candidate who has passed any graduate examination with minimum 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA from a recognised university/institution is eligible to apply. However, a relaxation of 10% in marks to SC/ST/PwD candidates shall be given in eligibility criteria. Those who are appearing in final semester examination may also apply, provided that they submit the proof of eligibility by a specific date declared by the University. 1.    M.Sc./M.Tech. Degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA/CPI of 7.0 on a 10 point scale. (Overall percentage/CGPA/CPI; not only in majoring subject)

2.    If the transcript/grade sheet issued by the Institute/University reports:

Only marks, percentage will be considered.

Only grades, CGPA/CPI will be considered. If CGPA/CPI is reported on any scale other than 10 (eg. 4 point/ 8 point scale), an equivalent CGPA/CPI will be calculated as per the following formula:
CGPA/CPI in a 10 point scale = (CGPA/CPI Obtained×10)/PS

PS = Point scale used by the Institute/University.

Percentage equivalent of CGPA/CPI, as indicated on the transcript/gradesheet, will be considered, if absolute grading was followed.

5.    Students whose results for CSIR-UGC NET Fellowship or ICMR-JRF category-I or DBT-JRF or INSPIRE-PhD or any other equivalent fellowship are awaited may also apply with their roll number(s) mentioned in the application. Such candidates may walk-in for the interview provided they have qualified examination for any of the above fellowship before the interview date. ii.     For students without any fellowship: The areas in which Institute-funded PhD students will be taken will be announced in the PhD advertisement. An applicant much have qualified at least one national level exam (e.g. GATE, JGEEBILS, JEST etc.) and must have a minimum of 55% marks in the Master’s degree.

iii.    The minimum eligibility criteria mentioned above may change time to time upon recommendation by the Senate.

iv.   Fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria does not ensure that a candidate will be called for the interview. Additional criteria might be set by the departments based on academic records, experience and research interest of the candidates.

v.    Relaxation for SC/ST & OBC candidates will be as per prescribed Government of India norms.

How to Apply:

PhD Registration:

i.              The selected candidates are required to complete the online pre-registration process after paying the requisite fees through online transaction (the pre-registration period and the current fee structure can be found on the Institute website). After the pre-registration and deposition of fees, a PhD student will be formally registered on the date of his/her joining by filling up the required registration form.

ii.             A department may choose to offer PhD position to the wait-listed candidates once the preregistration deadline in over.

iii.            Students waiting for their final Masters Degree result may be provisionally selected for PhD program but they must furnish the final result (mark-sheet) satisfying the qualification criteria within 30 days from the date of admission. Scholarship will not be given to the provisionally admitted students until the production of the final result. After production of the final result, the fellowships for the preceding months will be released with retroactive effect. If a provisionally admitted student fails to meet the eligibility criteria in his/her final results, admission to IISER Kolkata will stand cancelled.

iv.           Copies of joining report and attested forms of the new batch of externally-funded PhD students are to be submitted through the thesis supervisor, to the Academic Cell within two weeks of their joining IISER Kolkata.

v.            The PhD registration will be valid for six years from the date of registration.

Selection procedure: Candidates will be shortlisted for a design aptitude test and an interview based on the GATE / CEED score as per the schedule given on the IISc website under Important Dates. Selection will be based on the performance in the design aptitude test and interview. The announcement of the results and issue of admission of offers for candidates shortlisted on GATE score will be through COAP, and for those based on CEED, directly by the Institute. Biological Sciences:

Educational qualification: A minimum of first class or equivalent in Bachelor’s or an equivalent degree in Physical, Chemical or Biological Sciences (including Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, Veterinary Sciences and Agricultural Sciences) or A minimum of first class or equivalent in BE/ B Tech degree.

Qualifying examination: JAM 2019 in Biological Sciences (BL) or Biotechnology(BT) or Chemistry (CY) or Mathematics (MA) or Physics (PH) Biotechnology (BT)

Chemical Sciences:

Educational qualification: A minimum of first class in B.Sc. or an equivalent degree with Chemistry as one of the main subjects with Mathematics at the PUC or Plus 2 level.

Qualifying examination: JAM 2019 in Chemistry (CY) or Biological Sciences (BL) or Physics (PH)

Mathematical Sciences:

Educational qualification: A minimum of first class or equivalent in B Sc or equivalent degree with Mathematics as one of the subjects or BE/BTech or equivalent degree. A minimum of first class or equivalent in BE/ B Tech degree.

Qualifying examination: JAM 2019 in Mathematics (MA) or Mathematical Statistics (MS)

Physical Sciences:

Educational qualification: A minimum of first class or equivalent in B.Sc. or an equivalent degree with Physics as one of the main subjects.

Qualifying examination: JAM 2019 in Physics (PH) or JEST 2019

Selection procedure: Candidates will be short listed for interview based on their JAM 2019 score for all the four disciplines and also JEST 2019 for Physical Sciences. Selection for (a) Chemical Sciences will be based on the performance in the Interview; (b) Biological, Physical and Mathematical Sciences will be based on combined performance in the qualifying examination and interview.

Research Ph D under External Registration Programme (ERP) [This programme is meant for (1) professionals from R&D Organizations / Industries and (2) Faculty members from Engineering, Agricultural, Pharmaceutical, Veterinary, Medical Colleges/ Universities, recognized by the appropriate government agencies]

Eligibility:

The educational qualifications remain the same as for the regular candidates. Qualifying in one of the national entrance tests like CSIR-UGC NET for JRF, UGC-NET for JRF, DBT JRF, ICMR JRF, GATE, NBHM is desirable but not mandatory. Further, the candidate should have completed two years of full-time employment in the current organization. The candidates must be officially sponsored by their employing organizations.
