About College:

After independence, development of the rural sector was considered the primary concern of the Government of India. In 1949, with the appointment of the Radhakrishnan University Education Commission, imparting of agricultural education through the setting up of rural universities became the focal point. Later, in 1954 an Indo-American team led by Dr. K.R. Damle, the Vice-President of ICAR, was constituted that arrived at the idea of establishing a ‘Rural University’ on the land-grant pattern of USA. As a consequence a contract between the Government of India, the Technical Cooperation Mission and some land-grant universities ofUSA, was signed to promote agricultural education in the country. The US universities included the universities of Tennessee, the Ohio State University, theKansas State University, The University of Illinois, the Pennsylvania State University and the University of Missouri. The task of assisting Uttar Pradesh in establishing an agricultural university was assigned to the University of Illinois which signed a contract in 1959 to establish an agricultural University in the State. Dean, H.W. Hannah, of the University of Illinois prepared a blueprint for a Rural University to be set up at the Tarai State Farm in the district Nainital, UP. In the initial stage the University of Illinois also offered the services of its scientists and teachers. Thus, in 1960, the first agricultural university of India, UP AgriculturalUniversity, came into being by an Act of legislation, UP Act XI-V of 1958. The Act was later amended under UP Universities Re-enactment and Amendment Act 1972 and the University was rechristened as Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology keeping in view the contributions of Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant, the then Chief Minister of UP. The University was dedicated to the Nation by the first Prime Minister of India Pt Jawaharlal Nehru on 17 November 1960.

The G.B. Pant University is a symbol of successful partnership between India and the United States. The establishment of this university brought about a revolution in agricultural education, research and extension. It paved the way for setting up of 31 other agricultural universities in the country.

The Christian Medical College, Vellore has its grounding in research from the work started by Dr. Ida Sophia Scudder, its founder. Over the past century, CMC has contributed significantly not only to the provision of health care to the poor and needy but also in generating and advancing knowledge to improve the provision of curative and preventive services to the people we serve directly and to the nation.

Research is an integral part of the vision and the mission of CMC. Research at the institution has been oriented to areas of need and emphasizes application of knowledge to relevant problems. The inculcation of an attitude of inquiry, acquisition of knowledge of the mechanisms of research and the conduct of research, at various levels of involvement in health care, are encouraged in faculty and students.

Research is the key to excellence in academic medicine, but the conduct of research is frequently misunderstood as requiring both skills and resources not available to the practicing clinician. Defining research as a systemic investigation in order to contribute to generalizable knowledge makes it clear that research can be conducted in any environment and with minimal resources. Some forms of research, particularly in the basic and applied sciences, do require significant investments and we have been fortunate at CMC to obtain substantial grant funding to be able to support research in a wide range of some basic and substantial clinical and translational medicine.

Economic analyses have shown that the benefits of research are far in excess of investments. These analyses are based on the benefits to society in terms of human health and longevity, and do not consider the long term inquiry driven attitudinal changes that we seek to inculcate in our faculty and trainees. Nonetheless, it is heartening that in addition to treating our patients individually or promoting community health, our research is key to fulfillment of our motto ‘not to be ministered unto, but to minister’ on the widest and longest lasting scale.

Candidates who have qualified for the M.B.B.S Degree of the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University or any other University recognized as equivalent by the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University and the Indian Medical Council and have completed their compulsory rotating resident internship and obtained full registration before 15/05/2018 are eligible to apply for the postgraduate diploma and degree courses. 

Candidates who are in the 2nd year of their training for a postgraduate diploma course may also apply for the postgraduate degree (MS/MD) course in the same subject. Post Diploma candidates with a diploma in the same subject need to undergo 2 years of training for the degree 

Note: Those who have completed DCP will not have this benefit for MD Pathology / MD Transfusion Medicine. Candidates currently pursuing a postgraduate training program and who complete the same by the 15th May 2018 only will be eligible to apply.

Jawaharlal  Institute  of  Postgraduate  Medical  Education  and  Research,  Puducherry  (JIPMER)  under Government of India since the year 1956, is one of the leading Medical Institutions of India. Spread over a sprawling 195 acre campus in an urban locale of Puducherry (formerly Pondicherry), JIPMER is 170 kms by road from Chennai.

JIPMER has been declared as an Institution of National Importance by a Parliamentary Act, i.e. JIPMER, Puducherry, Act, 2008. A copy of the Act was Gazette notified on 14-7-2008 to enforce this Act. The Applicant should be an Indian National (not applicable to nominated candidates) 

He/she has completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December 2018, the year of his/her admission to the B.Sc. courses i.e. they should have born or before 01st January 2002 

The applicants should have passed the qualifying examinations in the manner mentioned below: 

a) The Higher/Senior Secondary Exam or the Indian School Certificate Exam, which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher/Senior Secondary Exam after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of such study comprising Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Botany and Zoology (which shall include practical tests in these subjects) and with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research & Training after introduction of 10+2+3 educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education or Higher Secondary Exam (+2) Vocational Stream with Medical Laboratory Assistant or any equivalent exam 

b) The applicant must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Botany & Zoology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Botany & Zoology at the qualifying exam and competitive entrance exam

For candidates belonging to the SC/ST or OBC/OPH the marks obtained in the Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Botany & Zoology taken together in the qualifying exam and competitive entrance exam is 40% 

c) An Eligibility Certificate is required in the case of foreign nationals nominated by the Central Govt. for admission to B.Sc. (MLT) Course 

d) Candidates who are studying/have studied Medical Laboratory Assistant in the Vocational Stream will not be considered for B.Sc. (Nursing) Course 

e) The Candidates, who have passed qualifying exam other than those mentioned in the list will have to submit an eligibility certificate to JIPMER before admission is finalized for B.Sc. Courses

Entrance Exam Pattern

Entrance Examination will be conducted through a Computer Based Test (CBT) [Online] only. 

The exam shall be conducted in English medium only. The questions for B.Sc. Courses Entrance Exam 2018 will be based on the syllabus as prescribed by State Board HSC and CBSE for XI & XII Standards 

The Entrance Exam is common to all and consists of 100 single best response type MCQs having four alternatives and the questions will be asked from the following subjects and the distribution of no. of question is as detailed below: 

The Entrance Exam will be of multiple-choice type questions totaling 100 in the subjects of Physics (20 Marks), Chemistry (20 Marks), Biology (40 Marks), Logic and Quantitative Reasoning (10 marks) & English and Comprehension (10 Marks) for both the main and Vocational Stream students 

Each answer with correct response shall be awarded one mark. Zero mark will be given for the question not answered; there is no negative marking 

The duration of the test is one and half-hours 

Questions that are answered and "Marked for Review" will be considered as Answered 

All questions will be of one best/correct response type having four alternatives; the response of the candidate for a questions on click of submit button before closing of Exam shall be considered as the response chosen by the candidate

Candidates who have qualified for the M.B.B.S Degree of the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University or any other University recognized as equivalent by the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University and the Indian Medical Council and have completed their compulsory rotating resident internship and obtained full registration before 15/05/2018 are eligible to apply for the postgraduate diploma and degree courses.

National Brain Research Centre is the only institute in India dedicated to neuroscience research and education. Scientists and students of NBRC come from diverse academic backgrounds, including biological, computational, mathematical, physical, engineering and medical sciences, and use multidisciplinary approaches to understand the brain.

Located in the foothills of the Aravali range in Manesar, Haryana, NBRC is an autonomous institute funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, and is also a Deemed University.

The mandate of National Brain Research Centre (NBRC) is to be a Centre of Excellence in Brain Research with State-of-art facilities, to evolve the centre through a networking approach and generate highly trained human resource

The vision we have for NBRC is that it would not only grow into a world-class institute for brain research but also create a vibrant, active neuroscience community by catalysing the overall growth of this discipline in the country. The expected benefit from this initiative would be the generation of skilled manpower in this important area of research who would help India achieve an international leadership in this frontier area of science. This initiative would also help Indian neuroscientists to participate in global research efforts as equal partners. The knowledge base generated from these efforts would help diagnostic tools and therapeutic strategies for treatment of brain-related disorders. A unique role for NBRC is that it will act as a node with linkages to other centres carrying out neuroscience research in the country, acting in effect as the "hub of the wheel" rather than the wheel itself.

The first announcement of the National Brain Research Centre by Dr. Manju Sharma, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology was on 14th November 1997 the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first prime minister. The Centre was registered as an autonomous Society on 14th June 1999 on 38 acres of land acquired on lease at Manesar, Gurgaon district, 40 km from Delhi.  Prof. P. N. Tandon is the founder Chairman of the NBRC Society and the founder director was Prof. Vijaylakshmi Ravindranath. The institute at Manesar was formally dedicated to the nation by the Hon’ble President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Kalam on December 16, 2003.

Prof. Prakash Tandon, a neurosurgeon of international repute and a neuroscientist at heart, continues to be chairman of the NBRC society and is actively associated with neuroscience research. Prof. Vijaylakshmi Ravindranath, was director NBRC from its inception to 2009, and is currently chairperson of the Centre of Neurosciences at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Rajasthan Ayurved University, Jodhpur is the first Ayurved University of Rajasthan and is the second University of it's kind in India,. The Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Rajasthan Ayurved University was established by DSRRAU Act -2002 (Act No. 15 of 2002) which came into force w.e.f. may 24, 2003 vide Gazette Notification no. F25 (6) Ay. /2000 dated May 24,2003. This university has now affiliated all the 44 colleges/institutions of Ayurved, Unani, Homeopathy, and about 7000 students are pursuing their UG, PG, Diploma and Doctoral Studies. The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is a public private initiative that has collaboratively evolved through consultations with multiple constituencies including Indian and international academia, state and central governments, multi & bi-lateral agencies and civil society groups. PHFI is a response to redress the limited institutional capacity in India for strengthening training, research and policy development in the area of Public Health.

Structured as an independent foundation, PHFI adopts a broad, integrative approach to public health, tailoring its endeavours to Indian conditions and bearing relevance to countries facing similar challenges and concerns. The PHFI focuses on broad dimensions of public health that encompass promotive, preventive and therapeutic services, many of which are frequently lost sight of in policy planning as well as in popular understanding.

The Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, launched PHFI on March 28, 2006 at New Delhi. PHFI recognizes the fact that meeting the shortfall of health professionals is imperative to a sustained and holistic response to the public health concerns in the country which in turn requires health care to be addressed not only from the scientific perspective of what works, but also from the social perspective of, who needs it the most.

Dr. D. Y.
