About College:

National Institute of Design (NID) is an ‘Institute of National Importance’ as per the NID Act 2014, as well as an autonomous institute under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. The Institute is empowered to award its own degrees—presently offering Bachelors of Design (B.Des.), Masters of Design (M.Des.), and PhD in Design. The Institute is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). It has strong linkages with the industry and active collaboration with several design institutes and universities across the world.

In pursuit of its continued commitment to design research, NID started a PhD in Design programme. This programme gives impetus to design research priorities for its current faculty in collaboration with researchers who are selected as PhD scholars under faculty supervision.

Bachelor of Design (B.Des.)

Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (GDPD) [at NID Andhra Pradesh, NID Haryana, NID Madhya Pradesh, NID Assam]

Eligibility:

All applicants applying for the B.Des. and GDPD programmes must fulfill criteria of both age and education qualification.

Age Limit:

·         For Indian Nationals in General Category and General EWS Category:  Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 2000 are eligible to apply for admission.

·         For Indian Nationals in Reserved Category (Other Backward Class-Non Creamy Layer  (OBC-NCL), Scheduled Caste (SC) & Scheduled Tribe (ST)):  Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 1997 are eligible to apply for admission.

·         For Indian Nationals in PwD Reserved Category:  Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 1995 are eligible to apply for admission.

·         For Foreign Nationals in Overseas (Supernumerary) Category:  Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 2000 are eligible to apply for admission.

Educational Qualification:

Applications for academic year 2020-21 are open to applicants who have passed or will appear for higher secondary (10+2) qualifying examinations in the academic year 2019-20 in any stream (Science, Arts, Commerce, Humanities, etc.) from any recognised board of education such as CBSE, IB, ICSE or their equivalent.

Examinations considered equivalent to these are as follows:

·         Final examination of the 10+2 system under a central or state board recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

·         Intermediate or two-year pre-university examination under a board or university recognised by the Association of Indian Universities.

·         Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.

·         Senior secondary school examination under the National Institute of Open Schooling, with a minimum of five subjects.

·         Any public school, board or university examination completed in India or in any foreign country recognised as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities.

·         H.S.C. vocational examination.

·         General Certificate Education (GCE) examination at the Advanced (A) level taken in London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka.

·         AICTE approved three-year Full time Diploma after Class X offered by Board of Technical Education of  any state in India or Union Territories as mentioned on http://www.facilities.aicte-india.org

·         Candidates who have completed final examinations for class XII (or equivalent) outside India or from a board not specified above should produce an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) confirming that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the Class XII examination conducted in India. The certificate is required to be submitted at the time of document verification.

Master of Design (M.Des.)

Eligibility:

All applicants applying for the M.Des. programme (any discipline) must fulfill criteria of both age and education qualification.

Age Limit:

For Indian Nationals in General Category & General EWS category: Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 1990 are eligible to apply for admission.

For Indian Nationals in Reserved Category (Other Backward Class-Non Creamy Layer  (OBC-NCL), Scheduled Caste (SC) & Scheduled Tribe (ST)):  Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 1987 are eligible to apply for admission.

Educational Qualification:

In addition to satisfying the above age criteria, the candidate must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications to be considered eligible for admissions:

Bachelor degree of minimum 4-year duration in any specialization, after 12th standard or equivalent to 12th standard from any university or institute recognised by law in India. Condition: Applicant must have passed the Bachelor degree examinations at the time of document verification tentatively scheduled in April/May 2020*.

OR

Bachelor degree of minimum 3-year duration in any specialization, after 12th standard or equivalent to 12th standard. Condition: Applicants must have passed the Bachelor degree examinations before June 2019.

OR

Full-time Diploma of minimum 4-year duration in Design/Fine Arts/Applied Arts/ Architecture, after 12th standard or equivalent to 12th standard, from any university or institute recognised by law in India. Condition: Applicants must have passed the Diploma examinations at the time of document verification tentatively scheduled in April/May 2020*.

* Applicants in the final year of their Bachelor degree/ Full-time Diploma programme whose universities may not have issued the final degree certificate by the date of application to NID, are eligible to apply, subject to passing all subjects without any backlog. Such candidate will have to submit/produce Provisional Degree certificate at the time of counseling.

Note:

In case the degree/certificate has been obtained from a university/board of any country other than India, an equivalence certificate must be obtained by the candidate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, at the time of document verification tentatively scheduled in June 2020. Course Name:

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Design

Eligibility:

(The qualifications mentioned are required to be from accredited/recognised institutes or universities of India1 OR equivalent qualifications from foreign educational institutes2.)

To be eligible for selection to the PhD programme, the candidate must be a citizen of India and hold at least one of the following qualifications:

A Master’s level qualification3 in Design,

OR

A Bachelor’s level qualification in Design4 from NID,

PLUS

A minimum of 3 years of professional or teaching experience.

OR

Master’ s degree in Philosophy(eg, M.Phil) in Design

OR

Successful completion of Faculty Development Programme of NID

or

of a similar program for the Design field of at least two years from any other recognised University.

Candidates who are scheduled to complete the final year of their qualifying examinations and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply for the PhD programme. In such cases, their candidature shall be provisional and confirmation of selection shall be subject to successful completion of the qualifying exams. Provisional acceptance will be confirmed only if the candidates secure the minimum grade/marks in their qualifying examination and submit its results to the Institute before the commencement of the programme. Failing this, the provisional status granted to such candidates shall automatically stand cancelled.

NATIONAL TESTING AGENCY (NTA) had successfully conducted the GRADUATE PHARMACY APTITUDE TEST - 2019 (GPAT-2019) for admission to various M. Pharma or its equivalent courses across the country. The 800 participating institutes of GPAT-2019 were the institutions which had accepted the GPAT Score.

The GPAT 2020 will be conduct by National Testing Agency (NTA) on the same pattern as per the Year 2019 i.e., Computer Based Test on January 28, 2020 from 02.30 p.m. to 05.30 p.m. for admission to M. pharma or its equivalent courses across the country. The result of GPAT-2020 will be declared by February 7, 2020 as GPAT Score which will be accepted by over 800 participating Institutes. The participating Institutes of GPAT-2020 are the Institutions which will be accepting the GPAT Score. Candidates must apply separately to the desired GPAT-2020 participating institutes with the GPAT Score 2020. Then, each participating institute will release their respective cut – off GPAT Score which candidates should meet to get qualified for admission to that particular institute. Candidates are advised to see the details of the admission process of each participating institute of GPAT-2020 on their respective website.

Eligibility GPAT - 2020:

The candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy (4 years after 10+2, including lateral entry students) or equivalent from a recognized university. Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree B. Pharmacy (10+2+4) whose result will be declared before commencement of admission for academic year 2020-21 can also apply for GPAT - 2020 computer-based test (CBT). B.Tech. (Pharmaceutical and Fine Chemical Technology)/ equivalent candidates are not eligible to apply. The candidate must be a citizen of India. There is no age restriction for appearing in GPAT - 2020.

TEST PATTERN

The medium of Question Paper shall be in English only. GPAT is an online computer-based test of 3 hours duration with 125 objective type questions.

Important Note:

i)             Each question carries 04 (four) marks.

ii)            For each correct response candidate will get 04 (four) marks.

iii)           For each incorrect response 01 (one) mark will be deducted from the total score.

iv)           To answer a question, the candidates need to choose one option corresponding to the correct option.

v)            However, after the process of challenges of the key, if more than one option is found to be correct then the multiple correct options will be given the four marks (+4).

Any incorrect option marked will be given the minus one mark (-1). Un-answered/Un-attempted will be given no marks. In case, a question is dropped/ignored, all candidates will be given four marks (+4) irrespective of the fact whether the question has been attempted or not attempted by the candidate.

At the test Centre, each candidate will be seated at a desk with a computer terminal and he/she will be provided with rough papers for calculations and a PEN. After the test, candidate must leave the rough papers at the desk. Rough work cannot be done on any other paper/sheet, as nothing will be allowed inside the examination room/hall.

Note:

(i) The final submission of online Application form will remain incomplete if Step - 2 Step - 3, Step - 4 and Step - 5 are not completed. Such forms will stand rejected and no correspondence on this account will be entertained.

(ii) No request for refund of fee once remitted by the candidate will be entertained

(iii) The entire application process of GPAT - 2020 is online, including uploading of scanned images, Payment of Fees and Printing of Confirmation page. Therefore, candidates are not required to send/submit any document(s) including Confirmation page to NTA through Post/Fax/ By Hand/E-mail.

(iv) Candidates are advised to keep visiting the NTA’s website regularly for latest updates and to check their e-mails.

(v) The NTA can make use of the data generated for the purpose of research and analysis.

All the candidates who have submitted the online application and paid the examination fee till last date will be allowed to appear in GPAT - 2020 and their admit cards will be uploaded on the website as per schedule. The NTA do neither verify the information filled by the candidates in the application form nor verify any certificate of category/educational qualification for deciding the eligibility of candidates. The certificates of educational qualification and category (if applied under reserved category) will be verified by the concerned institution. The candidates are, therefore, advised to ensure their eligibility and the category (if applying under reserved category). The CMAT 2020 will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) on the same pattern as per the Year 2019 i.e., Computer Based Test on January 28, 2020 from 09:30 am to 12:30 pm for admission to various management programs across the country. The result of CMAT-2020 will be declared by February 7th, 2020 as CMAT Score which will be accepted by over 1000 participating Institutes. The participating Institutes of CMAT-2020 are the Institutions which will be accepting the CMAT Score. Candidates must apply separately to the desired CMAT-2020 participating institutes with the CMAT Score 2020. Then, each participating institute will release their respective cut – off CMAT Score which candidates should meet to get qualified for admission to that particular institute. Once qualified, the candidates will have to appear for selection procedure of that particular institute which may comprise of Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). The final selection of the candidates will be on the basis of the candidate’s performance based on above. Candidates are advised to see the details of the admission process of each participating institute of CMAT-2020 on their respective website.

Eligibility CMAT- 2020:

The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor’s degree (10+2+3) whose result will be declared before commencement of admission for academic year 2020-21 can also apply for CMAT-2020 computer based test (CBT).

·         The candidate must be a citizen of India.

·         There is no age restriction for appearing in CMAT-2020.

Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) is the premier R&D organization of the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Ministry of Communications & Information Technology (MCIT) for carrying out R&D in IT, Electronics and associated areas.  Different areas of C-DAC, had originated at different times, many of which came out as a result of identification of opportunities. The setting up of C-DAC in 1988 itself was to built Supercomputers in context of denial of import of Supercomputers by USA. IMPORTANT NOTE

1.    Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply provided:

(a) That they produce a proof of having acquired the minimum prescribed qualifications at the time of counselling/ admission.

(b) If the 12th class/final year/final semester (as the case may be) result of qualifying degree/certificate examination is not declared by the concerned Board/ University till the date of counselling/ admission, his/her admission in such case will be strictly provisional subject to the following conditions:

(i) Affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper of Rs.10/- in the prescribed Proforma (Annexure–I) is submitted. In case the candidate is minor i.e. below 18 years of age, the affidavit shall be signed by his/ her parent/guardian. Candidates/parent/guardians may note that submission of false affidavit is a punishable offence; (ii) Those candidates who are seeking provisional admission due to non declaration of their final year/final semester/12th class (refer Annexure -I) will provide proof of having passed all papers in all the previous years /semesters of qualifying degree examination (whichever relevant).

(iii) The candidates will also bring the date sheet /admit card/ Principal’s certificate as proof of having appeared in the qualifying exam.

(iv) The candidate will submit the final result of qualifying degree/certificate providing his/her eligibility on or before 30th September, 2020 to their Campus Director/Jt. Director where the admission has been granted.

(v) In case the candidate fails to submit his/her final result of qualifying degree in the manner prescribed above to prove his/her eligibility on or before 30th September, 2020, whatsoever the reason may be his/her admission will be treated as null and void (cancelled) and entire fee will be forfeited. Any exception will be as per the decision of DG-NIFT, on a case to case basis.

(vi) The Campus Director / Nodal officer will be responsible to ensure that the eligibility of all students meet prescribed qualification for admission especially in the case of provisional admission. The provisional admission will automatically stand cancelled, if the candidate fails to submit the successful result in time i.e. 30th September, 2020.

(vii) In the case of candidates who have appeared for Supplementary examination(s) in the final semester/ final year of graduation and the result of the same is not declared by the time of counselling/ admission, such candidates will be considered for admission as per the provisions of para 1 (b) above, for the academic session 2020-21.

(viii) In the case of candidates who have appeared for compartment examination(s) in the 12th standard, such candidates will be considered only for provisional admission. He/she will have to clear the compartment examination UNDER THE SAME BOARD, failing which the provisional admission will stand automatically cancelled and entire fee will be forfeited.

2.    Any candidate who has not appeared for the qualifying exam before the date of counselling/ admission to NIFT, will not be eligible.

3.    It is further clarified that provisional admission will be considered only in such cases where the result of Final year/semester of the qualifying degree has not been declared by the concerned Board/ University in its totality. In case the result has been declared by the concerned Board/ University but it has not been declared in a specific case, for any reason, such cases will NOT be considered under provisional admission category.

THE EXAMINATION PROCESS (for all programmes)

All eligible candidates would have to go through an examination process. The process for each programme is separately listed below:

•      B.Des: For candidates to the UG Design programmes, the selection process comprises a written examination comprising of a Creative Ability Test (CAT) and General Ability Test (GAT), followed by a Situation Test to be undertaken by shortlisted candidates of the written examination.

•      B.FTech: For candidates to the UG Fashion Technology programme, the selection process comprises a written examination comprising of a General Ability Test (GAT).

•      M.Des: For candidates to the PG Design programme, the selection process comprises a written examination comprising of a Creative Ability Test (CAT) and General Ability Test (GAT) followed by Group Discussion and Personal Interview (GD/PI) for shortlisted candidates of the written examination.

•      M.F.M.: For the M.F.M programme, the selection process comprises of Written test comprising of a General Ability Test (GAT) followed by Group Discussion and Personal Interview (GD/PI) for shortlisted candidates of the written examination.

•      M.FTech: For the M.F.Tech programme, the selection process comprises of Written test comprising of a General Ability Test (GAT) followed by Group Discussion and Personal Interview (GD/PI) for shortlisted candidates of the written examination.

The objective type tests are subject to negative marking. The negative marking will apply at the rate of 0.25 each wrong answer.

The Institute of Insurance and Risk Management (IIRM) is an international education and research organization. The Institute was set up jointly by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) of India and the State Government of Andhra Pradesh, in 2002 for promotion of International Post Graduate Diploma Courses in Insurance / Risk Management (Regular and Distance learning). International School of Actuarial Sciences (ISAS) opened on 6th August 2007 leading to a Post Graduate Diploma in Actuarial Sciences. IIRM aims to serve the learning and developmental needs of emerging markets in the context of their contemporary challenges in Insurance sector.

Duration: 2 Year

Eligibility:

Any Graduate from a Recognized university with minimum 50% marks and valid scores of CAT/XAT/MAT/ATMA/GMAT/CMAT/Any state level management test. Candidates who are writing their final year exams can also apply. Those having qualification like AMIE or equivalent will also be considered for admission.

Selection Process: Selection is based on the scores submitted and personal interview. Scholarships are available for students with good academic background and high scores in National Entrance Test (CAT/MAT/XAT).
