About College:

IIM Shillong has been set up with a vision of providing good quality management education and research in the North Eastern region of India. The decision of coming up with an Indian Institute of Management in the North East was unanimously taken by the Union Minister of Human Resource Development along with the Chief Ministers of the North Eastern States in the Review Meeting held at Shillong during June 2004. Eligibility:

Candidates should have:

·         Masters’ degree and at least 5 years of professional experience as on the last day of application. (Experience Certificate or Pay Slips would be required as proof). No Objection Certificate (NOC) from current employer is required at the time of Personal Interview.

·         Graduation with minimum 55% aggregate marks for General Candidates. 5% relaxation will be given to reserved category candidates.

·         A Masters’ degree or its equivalent in any discipline with minimum 55% aggregate marks, 5% relaxation will be given to reserved category candidates.

OR

Graduation along with Professional qualifications of CA, ICWA and CS with at least 55% marks or equivalent

The above qualification should be from any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956 or, recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

Test Scores and its Validity

IIM Shillong will consider valid scores of GMAT, GRE, CAT, GATE or JRF (NET) for admission to PhD (WP) program. Valid score need to be entered while filling the application form.

The following categories of candidates are to be exempted from standard tests stated above but will be required to produce two reference letters from senior leadership.

A. Graduates of PGP programs (2 year fulltime) of IIMs or reputed institutions with CGPA 6.5 out of 10 or equivalent (minimum 5 years of post PGP experience).

OR

B. Government employees of Central/ State/ Civil Services/PSUs/Autonomous Bodies with more than 10 years of administrative experience.

OR

C. Teachers from institutions of higher education with last qualification from a reputed institution and minimum 10 years of teaching experience with proven research acumen.

OR

D. Individuals with at least 10 years of rich managerial experience from the nongovernment sector.

Admission Process for PhD Programme (Working Professionals) 2020

Candidates eligible as above, will be shortlisted based on recommendations of the appropriate committee. The shortlisted candidates will be invited for personal interview (and /or written test /video conferencing if necessary) for final selection at a location decided by IIM Shillong.

Such candidates, if selected, will be allowed to join the programme provisionally only if they submit a certificate, latest by June 30, 2020, from the Principal/ Head of the Department / Registrar or Director of the University / Institute (issued on or before June 30, 2020) stating that they have appeared for the examinations (including practical examinations) in all the subjects required for obtaining the Master's / equivalent qualification. Their admission will be confirmed only after they submit the mark sheet and the certificate of having passed the Master's / equivalent qualification referred to in the certificate issued by Principal/ Head of the Department / Registrar or Director of the University / Institute. The deadline for submission of Mark Sheet and the Certificate is December 31, 2020. Non-fulfillment of these conditions will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission.

Selection Process:

Candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria stated above and who cleared either of the CAT (2018/2019), GATE, GRE, GMAT and JRF (UGC/CSIR) examinations till 27th January 2020 can apply for the full-time doctoral program. All scores must be valid as on 27th January 2020. Short-listed candidates (on the basis of their academic record and performance in the competitive examinations mentioned above) will be called for an evaluation/personal interview for final selection. The successful candidates will receive offers to join the course by May 2020. Admission to the programme is open to overseas candidates including NRIs and foreign nationals. Their admission will be based on GMAT/GRE scores which are valid till 27th January 2020.

Reservation for eligible categories will be as per Government of India rules (as applicable to IIM Shillong) for the full time doctoral programme at the time of admission

About College:

NITIE Alumni Association (NAA) has been functioning to maintain the alumni relations of NITIE amongst the past students. Maintaining a strong alumni relations program is essential to the growth and development of our institute. With this motive in mind, the Executive Committee of the NAA has approved a proposal to create a Corpus Fund from the Alumni of NITIE. The donations will be accepted for both specific projects and general purposes. General contributions will be credited to the corpus fund. The management of the fund will be looked after by a committee chaired by the director and comprising of two senior faculty members and two representatives of Alumni.

To ensure that the alumni of NITIE continues to be closely knit, NAA organizes Regional Alumni Meets every year to facilitate better interaction amongst the alumni and to strengthen their links with the institution. Last year we had the Chennai alumni meet at the picturesque Buena Vista beach resort at Neelangarai beach. Despite a heavy downpour, games like beach football and Housie were played followed by an elaborate two hour lunch.

Eligibility 

Institute uses CAT 2019 (Common Admission Test) scores for shortlisting/selecting the candidates for PGDIM and PGDISEM programmes. The candidates should follow the CAT 2019 advertisement of IIMs. However, IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of NITIE Programmes.

ELIGIBILITY & SELECTION:

INDIAN STUDENTS

Engineering/Technology graduates in any branch with aggregate* 60% marks (relaxation of 5% in case of SC/ST/PwD (Persons with disabilities) candidates) and a valid CAT score. The reservation of seats exists for SC/ST/OBC-NC (Non-Creamy) and PwD candidates as per Govt. of India rules.

Final year Engineering/Technology candidates can also apply, provided they qualify the above criteria for exams appeared till date. Students appearing for final year exams in 2020 will be permitted to submit their result by September 30, 2020. Their admission will stand cancelled in case they fail to meet the qualifying requirements.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for Group Discussion & Personal Interview at NITIE, Mumbai.

SC/ST candidates are granted Central Sector Scholarship as per the scheme of Govt. of India vide letters No.11016/19/2005.SCD-1 dated 21.06.2007 & No.19012/36/-5-Education dated 27.06.2007 subject to the satisfactory fulfillment of terms and conditions mentioned therein.

Sponsored Seats: Seats are available for Sponsored Candidates in PGDISEM. Sponsored Candidates must be from reputed Industrial Organization/Academic Institution. The Candidates must have aggregate* 60% marks in Engineering/Technology with two years of full time work experience as on last date of submission of application as prescribed. CAT score is not required for sponsored candidates. However they are required to attend a written test and Personal interview to be conducted at the institute. Sponsored candidates should also fill-in the Sponsorship Form available on the NITIE website.

ELIGIBILITY & SELECTION:

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

15% of the approved intake (in supernumerary quota) will be reserved for international students in each programme offered by NITIE. Entry level qualification shall be at par with that of Indian students as specified above and the candidates should have a valid GMAT score. Foreign candidate should have a valid TOEFL or IELTS score. All the candidates are required to have a minimum of 18 (eighteen) months of stay at overseas countries as on last date of submission of application as prescribed. All international candidates must submit a SOP (Statement of Purpose) and two LORs (Letters of Recommendations) in soft copy. Shortlisted candidates should attend the interview along with Indian students; if not feasible, there is an option for interview through video conferencing.

For calculating the aggregate, all semesters’ marks/SGPA/percentage shall be averaged.

The selection process for NMP-2020 batch will be conducted in two rounds. The Applicants would be shortlisted on the basis of their GMAT scores in Round 1 for which the Personal Interviews will be conducted on Sunday, 15th December 2019 (tentatively). All the candidates applying before 5th December 2019 on the basis of their valid GMAT scores will be called for Personal Interview on Sunday, 15th December 2019. Applicants applying after 5th December 2019 on the basis of CAT/GMAT scores will be shortlisted only in Round 2 of the admission process for which the Personal interview will be conducted on Sunday, 19 th January 2020 (tentatively). Candidates applying on the basis of their CAT scores will be shortlisted and called for Personal interview only in Round 2 of admission process.

Online registration will be Open from 11th September 2019 to 8th January 2020. Candidates have to make an online payment of Rs 3000/-- (Incl. of 18% GST) using Credit/Debit card/Net Banking. After the payment has been made an application receipt is generated, the candidates must take the printout of the application receipt and bring along with them at the time of their Personal Interviews. The candidate will not be allowed to appear in the Personal Interviews without submitting the application receipt duly signed.

Foreign/NRI/PIO Applicants

Foreign/NRI/PIO applicants can be considered for admission on the basis of their valid GMAT scores. Applicants have to apply online by visiting MDI website. They can click on the programme they wish to apply for and follow the instructions given on the website. Online registration for Foreign/NRI/PIO Applicants will be open from 11th September 2019 to 8th January 2020. Candidates have to register for MDI Programme at GMAT website at the time of taking GMAT Examination. Applicants shortlisted on the basis of their GMAT score will be interviewed by MDI. Selection Process for Fellow Programme in Management (Industry) 2019

The candidates will be selected on the basis of overall performance in Personal Interview (PI). The selection process is as follows:

Stage 1: The candidates satisfying the academic eligibility criteria as mentioned above should submit their application online.

Stage 2: Based on the applications received, candidates satisfying Academic eligibility criteria will be called for the Personal Interview, to be conducted at IIM Indore during April 2019.
