Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)/ Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.)

Eligibility:

·         The candidate’s who are studying Post Graduate programmes and cleared all papers up to III Semester are eligible to apply for M.Phil. / Ph.D. programmes. Further, the candidate should produce the evidence for pass in the final semester along with mark statements at the time of interview.

a. Educational qualifications and fellowship requirements:

The candidate must fulfill one of the following criteria:

Group A:

·         Should have a Master’s degree in any branch of biomedical/life sciences (including veterinary science, public health, pharmaceutical sciences), bioinformatics, chemistry, computer science or mathematics or a B Tech in Biotechnology from a recognized university with at least 55% marks or its equivalent (e.g.: grade B in the UGC 7-point scale).

·         Must have qualified in the JRF examination of CSIR, UGC, ICMR, DBT (category I only) or NBHM, which provides fellowship for their PhD program.

Or

·         Should have SRF fellowship from ICMR, CSIR.

Group B: (THSTI fellowships equivalent to the CSIR-UGC Fellowship amount)

a.    Should have MBBS/MDS/MPH from a recognized university/institute with at least 55% marks or its equivalent

Or

b.    BE/B Tech (computer science/biotechnology/biomedical engineering/mechanical/ electronics/electrical engineering)/B. Pharma or post-graduate degree in life sciences (all disciplines in life sciences), pharmacy, medicinal chemistry, chemistry, physics, mathematics or bioinformatics from a recognized university/institute with at least 55% marks or its equivalent along with NETLS/DBT-II category or a valid GPAT/GATE qualification.

Candidates appearing in the final qualifying examination may also apply. However, they will be required to fulfill the above academic/ fellowship requirements at the time of joining the Ph D program by 15th of January 2020.

A relaxation in marks/ grade during Master’s Degree for those belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC (non-creamy layer)/ differently-abled and any other categories will be applicable as per the UGC notification, 5th May 2016 or subsequent notification in effect of at the time of interview.

Selection procedure: Names of shortlisted candidates will be announced on our website on 20th November 2019. Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for an admission test at THSTI on 9th December at 9:30 am. Applicants who clear the admission test will be interviewed on 9th and 10th December 2019. Final selection will be made based on the applicant’s performance in the interview and the list of selected candidates will be published on the THSTI website within one working week after the interview.

Fellowship: Students from group A, selected for admission to the PhD program and holding fellowship from any of the above agencies have to activate their own fellowship. Students selected from Group B will be awarded THSTI fellowships equivalent to the CSIR-UGC Fellowship amount.

No. of seats: A maximum of 25 candidates may be selected this session.

Reservations: 27% seats for OBC (non-creamy layer), 15% seats for SC, 7.5% seats for ST and 3% seats for differently-abled person are reserved for candidates belonging to these categories. SC/ ST/ OBC candidates are required to submit certificates in respect of their claims from authorized officers as notified by the Government for the purpose from time to time. The differently-abled (with minimum 40% disability) candidates are required to submit a certificate from authorized Medical Doctors/ Hospitals indicating the extent of physical disability.

The Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE) was established in 1964 for the study of issues and policies relating to public enterprises (PEs).  Shri.S.S Khera, ICS, the then Cabinet Secretary, Government of India, had conceived the idea of a research institution that would undertake a systematic and sustained study of issues relevant to the formulation of policies towards public enterprises. In the early sixties, when PEs were designed as the principal instrument to serve the social and economic objectives of development, Shri. Khera felt that there was need for an institute which would collect relevant information and documents on PEs, study specific issues and undertake consultancy and training exclusively for PEs. Dr.V.V. Ramanadham, the then Professor and Head of the Department of Commerce, Osmania University, translated Shri Khera’s concept into a reality that is IPE, with the active support and guidance provided by the late Dr. D. Eligibility:

The candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Differently Abled (DA*) categories], from any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. If selected, such candidates will be allowed to join the programme provisionally, only if he/she submits a certificate latest by June 30, 2020 from the Principal/Registrar of his/her College/Institute (issued on or before June 30, 2020) stating that the candidate has completed all the formalities/requirements for obtaining the bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of certificate.

Prospective candidates must maintain a valid email account and consistent phone number throughout the selection process. CIMP will not be responsible for non-delivery of messages if the email address and phone number provided by the candidate in the application form are invalid/changed later.

·         Applicants can also apply online on our website along with online payment of the application fee. Rs. 60 will be charged as convenience charges in case of online payment. The application fee can be paid through Cash or Credit Card/ Debit Card/Bank Transfer through the designated payment gateway.

·         Payment can also be made by Demand Draft, drawn in favour of Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna, payable at Patna, giving CIMP Application Registration number on the reverse of the Demand Draft. In the absence of the above information, the application will be treated as incomplete and liable to be rejected. All payments by Demand Draft are to be sent to CIMP.

Eligibility:

The candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree with MINIMUM 50% marks in aggregate of all the subjects studied at any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of UGC Act 1956 or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India. The Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail or minimum of 3 years of education after completing Higher Secondary Schooling (10+2) equivalent.

Candidates appearing for the final year degree examination in the year 2020 can also apply subject to furnishing the proof of having passed graduation by Tuesday, October 1, 2020 and obtaining minimum 50% marks in aggregate total of all the subjects studied failing which the provisional admission will be cancelled and no fee will be refunded in lieu thereof. All candidates are required to take the Common Admission Test (CAT-2019) conducted by IIMs, XAT 2020 conducted by XLRI, Jamshedpur or should have a valid GMAT score in a test taken between 1^st January 2018 and 20^th January 2020.

Selection Criteria

Short listing for the selection Process is based on CAT-2019 percentile/ XAT-2020 percentile/ GMAT Score.
