About College:

A distinguished group of health care visionaries set up the Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) in 2009. They were impassioned by the urgent Public Health concerns that faced the nation. The emphasis was on fast tracking health care solutions that would meet the needs of a rapidly developing economy in need of health care intensity for its dynamic population. PhD in biomedical research [Vaccines and infectious diseases, Translational research in maternal and child health, Drug discovery and mathematical modeling to understand disease biology, Human microbial ecology, Diagnostics, devices and bio-design]

Eligibility:

The candidate must fulfil one of the following criteria:

Group A: must have qualified in the junior research fellowship examination of CSIR, UGC, ICMR, DBT (category I only), BINC (for bioinformatics & computer science) or NBHM which provides fellowship for the entire duration (5 years) of their PhD program.

Should have a Master’s degree in any branch of biomedical/life sciences (including veterinary science, public health), bioinformatics, computer science or Mathematics from a recognized university with at least 55% marks or its equivalent (e.g.: grade B in the UGC 7-point scale) or a B Tech in Biotechnology.

Group B:

·         MBBS

·         BE/B Tech (Computer Science) with a valid GATE qualifying score

·         MSc – Mathematics

Candidates appearing in the final qualifying examination may also apply. However, they will be required to fulfil the above academic/ fellowship requirements at the time of joining the PHD program.

Selection procedure:

Names of shortlisted candidates will be announced on our website by 17th November. Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for an admission test at THSTI on the 3 rd of December at 9:30 am. Applicants who clear the admission test will be interviewed on 3 rd and 4 th December 2018. Final selection will be made based on the applicant’s performance in the interview and the list of selected candidates will be published on the THSTI website within one working week of the interview. Selected candidates should interact with potential PhD supervisors and provide their choice of supervisors for lab rotations by 4 PM on 24th December 2018.

Fellowship:

Students from group A recommended for admission to the PhD program and holding fellowship from any of the above agencies will be required to utilize their own fellowship. Candidates with professional degrees (Group B) selected through the admission process will be awarded THSTI fellowships equivalent to the CSIR-UGC Fellowship amount.

Fees: Admission fees, annual fees, registration fees or any other fees levied by JNU shall be payable by the student.

Hostel: Selected students will have the option of shared hostel accommodation in lieu of their HRA.

Application procedure: Candidates fulfilling the above requirements must apply online. Please take a print out of the application, sign and send it to the Officer (Academics) of the institute at the above address along with the application fee and self-attested copies of documents in support of eligibility so as to reach by 10th November 2018.

Applications received after the closing date will not be entertained on any ground including postal delay. Incomplete applications in any respect will be summarily rejected and no correspondence in this regard will be entertained.

·         B.Tech. students (Class of 2019) from IITs with a CPI/CGPA of not less than 6.0 at the end of their third year.

·         No GATE qualification requirement

Fellowship:

·         Rs. 35,000/- per month (with valid GATE score)

·         Rs. 25,000/- per month (without GATE score)

Admission Procedure:

Admission is generally offered on the basis of an interview, which is supplemented by a written test if necessary. The final selection will be mainly based on academic credentials, written test and/or interview.

The written test is generally based on the topics related to general aptitude (logical reasoning, analytical and numerical ability, etc.), writing skills, and basic courses of various disciplines at undergraduate level. About College:

Established in 2011 as an ‘Institution of National Importance’ (interim operations started in June, 2010), the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) has adopted the mandate to create and train some of the best of tomorrow’s Science & Technology leaders through a combination of innovative and novel curricula, pedagogy and evaluation. AcSIR’s focus will be on imparting instruction and providing research opportunities in such areas that are not routinely taught in regular academic universities in India.

It has been set up based on a ‘Hub and the Spokes’ model where hub is responsible for centralized administrative functions. Ph.D (Sciences)

Eligibility:

1. Ph.D in Sciences Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Technology, Medicine or Master's degree in Science with a keen sense of scientific enquiry for pursuing advanced research in frontier areas of Biological, Chemical, Physical and Mathematical & Information Sciences. The candidate should have a valid National level fellowship (JRF/ SRF) from any of the various funding agencies such as CSIR, UGC, DBT, DST etc.), INSPIRE or other equivalent fellowships.

2. Direct Ph.D in Sciences Undergraduate degree in Science or allied subjects with at least 8.5 and/or 1st rank holder in University/ Institution. Possible funding sources for students are INSPIRE, CSIR-JRF, CSIR-UGC-NET or other equivalent national fellowships.

3. Sponsored Ph.D (Sciences) Regular: Master’s degree in Science* Direct: Undergraduate degree in Science or allied subjects with at least 8.5 and/or 1strank holder in University/ Institution*. * with endorsement from Industry, Academic or Research Institutes for required academic leave and financial support during the program. Candidates whose final results are awaited, but who are otherwise eligible as per the screening criteria, can also apply. If selected, they will be provisionally admitted to the program. (ii) At least one of the following (a) Awarded a national-level fellowship (such as NET JRF) tenable at CSIR institutes (b) Meeting all the conditions required for eligibility for the CSIR-GATE-JRF (c) Meeting all the conditions for award of the INSPIRE fellowship (typically awarded to students ranked first in the University) (d) Meeting all the conditions stipulated by AcSIR for Project Assistants to register for a PhD (e) Meeting all the conditions stipulated by AcSIR for industry-sponsored* students. * with endorsement from Industry, Academic or Research Institutes for required academic leave and financial support during program.

These are only minimum quality yardsticks of eligibility for consideration for admission and bear no relationship with financial assistance or scholarship. Any stipend, scholarship or financial source for study would be the sole responsibility of the student. AcSIR itself does not provide any such scholarship or have any rule in these matters.

Eligibility:

Master’s degree. 

Selection: Twice a year.

i.      For students with own fellowship: Students with independent PhD fellowship from external funding agencies (e.g. CSIR, UGC, DBT, ICMR, INSPIRE, NBHM, etc.) and having a minimum of 55% marks in their Master’s degree are eligible to apply for the IISER Kolkata PhD Program.

ii.     For students without any fellowship: The areas in which Institute-funded PhD students will be taken will be announced in the PhD advertisement. An applicant much have qualified at least one national level exam (e.g. GATE, JGEEBILS, JEST etc.) and must have a minimum of 55% marks in the Master’s degree.

iii.    The minimum eligibility criteria mentioned above may change time to time upon recommendation by the Senate.

iv.   Fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria does not ensure that a candidate will be called for the interview. Additional criteria might be set by the departments based on academic records, experience and research interest of the candidates.

v.    Relaxation for SC/ST & OBC candidates will be as per prescribed Government of India norms.

How to Apply:

PhD Registration:

i.              The selected candidates are required to complete the online pre-registration process after paying the requisite fees through online transaction (the pre-registration period and the current fee structure can be found on the Institute website). After the pre-registration and deposition of fees, a PhD student will be formally registered on the date of his/her joining by filling up the required registration form.

ii.             A department may choose to offer PhD position to the wait-listed candidates once the preregistration deadline in over.

iii.            Students waiting for their final Masters Degree result may be provisionally selected for PhD program but they must furnish the final result (mark-sheet) satisfying the qualification criteria within 30 days from the date of admission. Scholarship will not be given to the provisionally admitted students until the production of the final result. After production of the final result, the fellowships for the preceding months will be released with retroactive effect. If a provisionally admitted student fails to meet the eligibility criteria in his/her final results, admission to IISER Kolkata will stand cancelled.

iv.           Copies of joining report and attested forms of the new batch of externally-funded PhD students are to be submitted through the thesis supervisor, to the Academic Cell within two weeks of their joining IISER Kolkata.

v.            The PhD registration will be valid for six years from the date of registration.

The Punjab Agricultural University was established in 1962 to serve the state of erstwhile Punjab. On trifurcation of Punjab in November 1966, HaryanaAgricultural University was carved out of PAU by an Act of Parliament in February 1970. Later, in July 1970, Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidalya was established.  In 2006 the College of Veterinary Science was upgraded to become Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Science University (GADVASU) atLudhiana. Eligibility:

For admission to the Ph. D. programme in a subject under any Faculty the applicant shall fulfill the following criteria:

1. Faculty of Medicine:

A candidate who has passed MD/MS Degree examination in the concerned subject from an Institute which is recognized by the Medical Council of India, 

OR
Candidate having Diploma in National Board (DNB) qualification in the concerned subject 
OR
A candidate having passed M. Optometry, M.Sc.(Medical) Degree examination from a recognized University in Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Microbiology with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate.

2. Faculty of Dentistry

A candidate who has passed a Master in Dental Surgery (MDS) Degree examination in the concerned subject from an Institute which is recognized by the Dental Council of India.

3. Faculty of Nursing:

A candidate who has passed a Master of Science Degree examination in M. Sc. Nursing from a recognized university with a minimum of 55 % marks in aggregate.

4. Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences:

A candidate who has passed a Master of Physiotherapy Degree examination (MPT) from a recognized university with a minimum of 55 % marks in aggregate.

5.Faculty of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics:

A candidate having passed Master Degree examination from a recognized university, i.e., (M.Sc. or M. Tech.) Degree from any branch of Science related to Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, such as Chemistry / Biology/ Life Sciences / Microbiology/ Biotechnology, Bioinformatics/Plant Environmental//Pharmacy/ Environmental//Pharmacy/Agriculture Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences etc. with a minimum of 55% Aggregate Marks in aggregate.

6. Faculty of Management:

A candidate having passed Master Degree Examination in Management or Business Administration or Management related subjects with a minimum of 55 % marks from a recognized university in aggregate. 
The fellow members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and/or Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India or of Institute of Company Secretaries of India shall be eligible, provided that they possess a Bachelor Degree of any statutory University with a minimum 55% marks in aggregate. Such candidate should have at least 5 years professional experience.

7. Faculty of Ayurved:

A candidate who has passed a Master of Ayurved Degree examination in (M.D.) from a recognized university with a minimum of 55 % marks in aggregate.

8. Faculty of Homoeopathy:

A candidate who has passed a Master of Homoeopathy Degree examination in ( M. D.) from a recognized university with a minimum of 55 % marks in aggregate. 

Application for research in inter-disciplinary areas and from applicants belonging to a faculty or a subject other than the faculty or subject in which the research is proposed to be done and also from the international students, who do not fulfill the eligibility criteria given as applicable, shall be considered on the basis of the proven ability and aptitude for researcher as evidenced by his/her publications/ research work/academics. 
A relaxation of 5% of marks from 55% to 50% or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non- creamy layer) differently-abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Vidyapeeth from time to time. 

A candidate who have cleared the M. Phil. Course work with at least 55% marks in aggregate of its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC-7 point scale or an its equivalent grade in a point scale, wherever, grading system is followed and successfully completing M. Phil. Degree shall be eligible to proceed to do research work relating the Ph. D. in the same Institution 

A person whose M. Phil. dissertation has been evaluated and the viva voce is pending may be admitted to the Ph.D. programme of the same Institution; 

Candidates possessing a Degree considered equivalent to M. Phil. Degree of an Indian Institution, from a Foreign Educational accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational Institutions, shall be eligible for admission to Ph.D. programme.

Eligibility:

PhD in Chemical Sciences:

Master's degree with a keen sense of scientific enquiry for pursuing advanced research in frontier areas of Chemical Science. The candidate should be having a valid National level fellowship (JRF/ SRF of various funding agencies, e.g. CSIR, UGC etc.), or INSPIRE or other equivalent fellowships

PhD in Chemical Engineering:

(I)           A Master’s degree in Engineering or Technology following a four-year engineering/technology or 4/5 year science degree; or an integrated minimum-5-year M Tech degree; or equivalent.

(a)   Awarded a national-level fellowship (such as NET JRF) tenable at CSIR institutes

About College:

Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati is the first among the 3rd phase of IITs, announced in 2014, to have its foundation stone laid in March 2015. It started functioning with the support of it’s mentoring institute, IIT Madras from the academic year of 2015-16. The academic program was launched in August 2015 by admitting students in the B.Tech programme in the fields of Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The curriculum has emphasis on theoretical knowledge and practice oriented laboratories. Courses are planned to nurture innovation, creativity, quality, teamwork, communication skills, ethics and societal interaction. MS and PhD programmes will be started from academic year 2017-18.

Presently, IIT Tirupati is operating from the temporary campus on Tirupati – Renigunta Road and also the transit campus at Yerpedu. The transit campus was formally inaugurated by the Director Prof. K.N Satyanarayana on 6th August 2018 and the orientation program for first year students was organized on 7th August 2018. Two boys hostels are now operational for first year students and the third hostel is almost ready for occupation by senior students. 120 and 60 seater classrooms are also ready for conducting classes for the first year students. With these arrangements, transit campus operations have started from August 2018.

Eligibility:

Ph.D. in Engineering:

(a) Candidates with a Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology or a Master’s degree by Research in Engineering/Technology with a good academic record.

(b) Candidates with Master’s degree in Sciences with a good academic record and of exceptional merit are eligible for the relevant Engineering discipline. They should have a valid GATE score or UGC/CSIR-NET/NBHM or equivalent qualification in the relevant area tenable for the year of registration.

(c) Candidates who have qualified for the award of Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology from a Centrally Funded Technical Institute (CFTI) with an exceptionally good academic record in an eligible discipline will be considered for direct admission to Ph.D. provided he/she has a minimum CGPA of 8/10 (7.5 for OBCNCL and 7.0 for SC/ST/PwD on a 10-point scale).

Ph.D. in Sciences:

(a) Master’s degree in Sciences with a good academic record and having a valid GATE score or UGC/CSIR-NET/NBHM or equivalent qualification tenable for the current year in the relevant area. Master’s degree holders in Engineering/Technology are also eligible.
