This section provides an overview of the steps involved in counselling and admission process.

A. Online Registration

•        Candidates should go through prospectus for gathering information/instruction in details about counselling schedules and procedures. Softcopy is available on the website.

•        For phase-I candidates will register themselves as per key dates mentioned in the admission schedule for Self-Financing Colleges of Education affiliated to this University.

•        For participation in online admission process, a candidate has to register by submitting personal data/requisite information correctly in the online application form. On submitting this data/information user Id and password will be generated/ created for use in future logins by the candidate.

•        For subsequent logins, candidates will be able to login directly with their user Id and password. Candidates should remember to logout at the end of their session so that the details filled by them cannot be tampered with or modified by unauthorized person.

•        Candidates are advised to record/remember their password for future logins and not to disclose or share their password with anybody.

•        It is solely the responsibility of the candidates to verify that their personal data including Category, Subcategory, Residential Status, gender etc are consistent with documentary evidence.

•        If the personal data submitted /entered by the candidates are found to be wrong at the time verification of certificate either during reporting or at a later stage, the allotment of seat/ provisional admission is liable to be cancelled.

On 28th August 2006, the Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh announced for the establishment of the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) at Bhubaneswar, which will be operated under the umbrella of Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) of Govt. of India. Eligibility:

Biological Sciences:

60% or equivalent GPA in Masters or M.Tech in any branches of Biology, Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Veterinary Sciences, Computer Sciences, Bioinformatics and Biotechnology. Students with Master’s degree in Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics having interest in pursuing a career in Biology are also encouraged to apply.

Candidates applying for admission in School of Biological Sciences should have qualified at least one National Level Exam with fellowship (CSIR-NET, DST INSPIRE, DBT, ICMR or any other equivalent) and must have valid fellowship certificate for the year 2019 at the time of application. Fellowship certificate/award letter must be submitted at the time of application.

Chemical Sciences:

60% or equivalent GPA in Masters in Chemistry or allied fields. Student with Master’s degree in any branches of Basic Sciences or M.Tech in Applied Chemistry or Computer Sciences with interest in pursuing career in Chemistry are also encouraged to apply.

Candidates applying for admission in School of Chemical Sciences, Humanities & Social Sciences and Computer Sciences should have qualified at least one of these national level examinations i.e. CSIR-UGC NET/GATE/JEST/INSPIRE (Doctoral fellowship under AORC Scheme with fellowship) or any other equivalent national level examination, valid for the current year in the relevant area of research.

Physical Sciences:

60% or equivalent GPA in Master’s degree cumulatively till the last year/semester examination appeared in M.Sc majoring in Physics or M.E./M.Tech in Applied Physics.

Candidates applying for admission in School of Physical Sciences should have qualified at least one National Level Exam i.e CSIR-UGC NET/GATE/JEST or any other equivalent national level examination valid for the current year.

Humanities and Social Sciences:

55% or equivalent GPA in Masters in Social Sciences and allied disciplines.

# Candidates with GPA need to produce the conversion note (in case it is not mentioned in their mark sheet) from their institution towards calculation of percentage.

Computer Sciences:

60% or equivalent GPA in Masters in Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics Engineering or related fields, or Mathematics.

About College:

In the imperial Gazetteer of India 1878, Pusa was recorded as a government estate of about 1350 acres in Darbhanba. It was acquired by East India Company for running a stud farm to supply better breed of horses mainly for the army. Frequent incidence of glanders disease (swelling of glands), mostly affecting the valuable imported bloodstock made the civil veterinary department to shift the entire stock out of Pusa. A British tobacco concern Beg Sutherland & co. got the estate on lease but it also left in 1897 abandoning the government estate of Pusa.

Lord Mayo, The Viceroy and Governor General, had been repeatedly trying to get through his proposal for setting up a directorate general of Agriculture that would take care of the soil and its productivity, formulate newer techniques of cultivation, improve the quality of seeds and livestock and also arrange for imparting agricultural education. The government of India had invited a British expert. Dr. J. A. Voelcker who had submitted as report on the development of Indian agriculture. 1.2.5 have a minimum of one (1) year of work experience if employed as per Sub-Section 1.1.1 and have minimum first class or 60% marks or CGPA/CPI of 6.0 on a scale of 1- 10 or equivalent of 6.0 on a different scale (minimum 55% for SC/ST/PWD or CGPA/CPI of 5.5 on a scale of 1-10 or equivalent of 5.5 on a different scale) in their last qualifying degree in Engineering ; in case of Humanities, 55% marks or CGPA/CPI of 5.5 on a scale of 1-10 or equivalent of 5.5 on a different scale in MA or allied degrees (minimum 50% for SC/ST/PWD or CGPA/CPI of 5.0 on a scale of 1-10 or equivalent of 5.0 on a different scale)

1.3 Fulfillment of GATE requirement may be waived for such candidates depending on prior academic performance and employment experience. However, they may be asked to take a written test.

1.4 Candidates will be asked to appear for an interview before a selection committee.

1.5 The candidate should submit at the time of application, a Sponsorship Certificate from the organization in which he / she is employed giving an undertaking

1.5.1 that the candidate would be allowed to fulfill the coursework requirement and qualifier examination

2.6 The candidate should submit at the time of application, a Sponsor’s Letter from the organization in which he / she is employed. The sponsoring organization will give an undertaking:

2.6.1 that the candidate will be paid full salary during the PhD program AND would be allowed to fulfill the coursework requirement and qualifier examination

2.6.2 that leave would be granted for the same and the candidate will be allowed to attend the lectures, labs etc. as per the academic schedule of IIT Goa. 2.7 A co-supervisor (must hold PhD degree) at the employing organization needs to be identified. Meetings between co-supervisor and supervisor at IIT Goa should be held at least once in a year.
