About College:

The Osmania University, established in 1918, is the seventh oldest in the country, third oldest in South India and the first to be established in the princely State of Hyderabad.  Though the need for a university for the Hyderabad State was felt, both by the intelligentsia and the people for a long time, the initiative came from a civil servant, Sir Akbar Hydari, who was then the Home Secretary to the State Government.  Sir Akbar, in a Memorandum to the Education Minister in early 1917, emphasized the need to establish a University for Hyderabad with ‘Urdu’ as the medium of instruction “as it is the language of the widest currency in India, official language of the State, and it is a language which is understood by a vast majority of the population of the State.”  He believed that higher education must have its foundations deep in the national consciousness.

Duration: 1 Year

Eligibility:

·         Candidates who have passed M.Sc. in Physics / Nuclear Physics or an equivalent course with at least 60% marks

·         Candidates must have qualified at the Entrance Test conducted by the University in the Academic year for which admission is sought

·         Qualifying at the Entrance Test alone does not confer a right of admission into the course. In addition to being qualified at the Entrance Test, a candidate will be eligible for admission only if he/she pass the qualifying exam before the commencement of counselling for admission and secures the prescribed minimum marks

·         In addition to qualifying in the entrance test, the candidates must fulfil the other eligibility conditions specified for the course for which he/she seeks admission

How to Apply:

Online Admission System: The Admission Forms can be submitted online (except for International Students) through Onlie Admission System at http://onlineadmission.ignou.ac.in. Currently, the facility is available for the programmes offered through Common Prospectus except merit-based and entrance test based programmes. The prospective learners are required to create their user ID and password for logging in the system and upload the required documents along with the submission of the Admission Form. There is no need to send the printed copy of the Admission Form to the Regional Centre. The programme fee can be paid online using payment Gateway. Once the admission form is submitted online, the students can track the progress of their admission. A message is sent on the mobile number and email ID registered with the System once admission confirmed.

The prospective learners submitting the Admission Form through this System can download the Prospectus free from IGNOU website. However, an amount of Rs. 200/- is charged as registration fee along with the programme fee.

To be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programme, a candidate must have obtained a Master‘s/M.Phil. degree of the University of Delhi, or any other recognized University, or a Post-graduate Degree in an allied subject equivalent thereof securing a minimum of 55% marks. Candidates having a MBA/Master‘s Degree in an allied subject from University of Delhi or equivalent would be required to write the CAT 2018 for admission to the Ph.D. programme. Eligibility:

Candidates applying for admission to the two-year evening MBA Executive programme must have pursued at least a three-year Bachelor‘s Degree programme after twelve years of formal schooling having secured minimum 45% aggregate marks or equivalent grades in any of the disciplines such as Arts, Commerce, social Sciences, Law, Sciences, Mathematics/ Statistics, Medicine, Engineering or Technology. Additionally, she/ he should have at least five years of experience as an executive or an administrator in a commercial/government establishment/registered organization after passing the Bachelor‘s degree examination. Experience shall be determined as on the 1st April of the year of admission. Candidates should be either sponsored or produce a ―No Objection Certificate to pursue the programme from his/her present employer.

Candidates who do not fulfill all the above eligibility conditions and do not submit all the supporting documents before stipulated date may not be called for interview.

About College:

IIST is Asia’s first Space Institute and the first in the world to offer the complete range of undergraduate, post graduate, doctoral programmes with specific focus to space science, technology and applications. This unique concept took root in January 2007, when IIST was registered as a Society under the Travancore -Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act, 1955. IIST received the approval of  the Union Cabinet on 26 April, 2007 and it was formally inaugurated on 14 September 2007 by Dr. G. Madhavan Nair. Eligibility:

1.    Nationality: Applicant should be an Indian citizen.

2.    Age Limit: Applicant should be below 35 years as on November 14, 2018. Age relaxation is applicable as per Government Rules.

3.    There is no provision for PhD admission in IIST under Self Financing Category.

Minimum Qualifications:

1.    Applicants with Master’s Degree in Engineering/Technology as their highest qualifying degree

Applicants with Master’s Degree in Engineering/Technology must have secured 65% marks or 7.00 CGPA or equivalent in the Qualifying Master’s degree (60%marks or 6.50 CGPA for OBC, 55%marks or 6.00 CGPA for SC/ST/PD). They must have pursued their Master’s degree on the basis of qualified GATE score. However there is no GATE cut off score for applicants with M.Tech/M.E as the highest qualifying degree, who are applying for Ph.D. in Engineering Discipline. Applicants with Master of Science in Engineering or equivalent from leading foreign Universities with minimum CGPA 9/10 or equivalent can be considered without GATE score.

Selection Procedure: For candidates with M.E/M.Tech as their highest qualifying degree, selection to the PhD programme will be based on a written screening test followed by an interview. However, candidates with a valid fellowship such as CSIR/NET-JRF fellowships and CSIR-NET Lectureship post their ME/M Tech, will be directly called for the interview.

2.    Applicants with Master’s Degree in Science as their highest qualifying degree

Applicants must have Master’s Degree in the relevant area with a minimum of 65% marks or 7.00 CGPA or equivalent in the Qualifying Master’s degree (60%marks or 6.50 CGPA for OBC, 55%marks or 6.00 CGPA for SC/ST/PD). They must have cleared a National level eligibility test, such as a valid UGC-CSIR-NET-JRF/Lectureship/ fellowship or NBHM/JEST/GATE and State Government Science and Technology Scheme, in the relevant disciplines.

Selection Procedure: For candidates applying with their Master’s degree in Sciences as their qualifying degree and having a valid score card/certificate in any of the National level eligibility tests listed above, selection to the programme will be based on an interview to be conducted at IIST.

Applicants applying with their JEST score should have secured a rank within the first 300.

Candidates applying with a valid GATE score in a Science discipline, having a minimum score of 500 for General Category (450 for OBC and 350 for SC/ST/PD categories), are exempted from the Ph.D. written screening test conducted by IIST. Applicants having GATE score in Science disciplines less than indicated cut-off above will not be considered for Ph.D. Admission.

3.    Applicants with Master’s Degree in Humanities/Management/Social Sciences as their highest qualifying degree

Applicants must have Master’s Degree in the relevant area of Humanities/Management / Social Sciences with a minimum of 65% marks or 7.00 CGPA or equivalent in the Qualifying Master’s degree (60%marks or 6.50 CGPA for OBC, 55%marks or 6.00 CGPA for SC/ST/PD). They must have cleared a national level eligibility test, such as a valid UGC-NET-JRF fellowship/ State Government Science and Technology Scheme or similar fellowship schemes of Central/State Governments.

Selection Procedure: For candidates applying with their Master’s degree in Humanities/Management/Social Sciences as their qualifying degree and having a valid score card/certificate in any of the National level eligibility tests listed above, selection to the programme will be based on an interview to be conducted at IIST.

4.    Candidates who have been provided research fellowships by State Government Science and Technology Scheme through competitive written test can also apply. For Candidates having research fellowship by State Government without competitive written test will have to appear for written screening test.

How to Apply:

1)    Applications shall be submitted online at the IIST website. Applications received online only will be considered.

2)    The applicants will not be allowed to make any changes in their registration profile once submitted. Hence utmost care should be taken by the applicants while filling their profile

3)    Application fee is to the extent of Rs. 700/- per Department (for SC/ST/PD and Women applicants - Rs.350/- per Department). If the applicant is eligible and wishes to apply for more than one Research Area in the same Department, he/she need not pay any additional application fee. The application fee is non-refundable. Applicants who wish to apply to multiple departments, will have to pay the appropriate application fee (sum of the application fee for each department).

4)    The application fee shall be paid, once enabled by the system one day after the registration, through “SBI Collect” only.

5)    Applicants who are employed in Government/Semi Government/PSUs/ Autonomous Bodies need to produce a “No Objection Certificate (NOC)” from the current employer at the time of Interview.

6)    SC/ST/OBC/Persons with Disabilities (PD) applicants shall upload the relevant certificate in the website before the prescribed date.

Sponsored PhD Programs

Applicant meeting the eligibility criteria may apply for admission to the PhD program under sponsored category if he/she is either awardee of research fellowship from some recognized funding agency (CSIR/ UGC/ NBHM/ DBT/ ICAR/ ICMR/ ICPR etc. or DST INSPIRE Fellowship) or is sponsored by his/her employer or is ready to self-sponsor himself/herself for the duration of PhD tenure. A certificate/declaration of sponsorship from the sponsoring body must be submitted by the applicant at the time of applying for admission. 

Sponsored candidate needs to apply as one of the following: 

i) Full-time: A sponsored applicant may apply for admission to PhD program as sponsored full-time student. Such a student needs to be present on the campus for the duration of PhD as per the rules of IIT Bhilai.
ii) Part-time: Professionally employed personnel such as working engineers, scientists and teachers who can, while employed, attend regular classes as per schedule of IIT Bhilai may apply for admission to PhD program as sponsored part-time student. The applicant must be an employee of a recognized organization and be engaged in professional work in the area to which admission is sought. The student must be available in person for discussion/meeting with the supervisor on a regular basis. The applicant shall give an undertaking endorsed by the employer that the applicant will be relieved to attend all classes. 
iii) External: An applicant working in industry / academic establishment / research laboratories having R&D facilities may apply for admission to PhD program as external applicant. Such a student is expected to carry out all/major part of the research work in the organization employing the student. The employer must explicitly undertake to relieve the applicant for staying on the campus to complete the required course work. A certificate to that effect from the sponsoring organization must be provided by the applicant at the time of applying for admission. The student will be under joint supervision of a supervisor from IIT Bhilai and one from his/her parent organization. The applicant shall provide the CV of the prospective supervisor who would supervise the applicant's work at his/her organization. Such applicants may apply as full-time or part-time scholar.

A) External Full-time: An external full-time student needs to be involved in full-time research at the organization employing the student.

B) External Part-time: An external part-time student may be involved in his/her regular job assignments along with the research for PhD.

After final submission of your online application, Application number along with the pdf of your online application will be generated. The application number may be retained for making payment and for any future communication.

STEP-II: Make Payment

·         All shortlisted candidates (in all categories mentioned above) will have to appear for a Writing Ability Test and/or Personal Interview in one of the XUB Admission Centres in the country.

Selection Process

The short-listed candidates will be called for Writing Ability Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview, which will be held in Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai Candidates will have to meet their own travel expenses for appearing in the Interview session. The final selection will be made on the basis of the candidate’s performance in the Writing Ability Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview (which factors in the past academic record and relevant work experience). The selected candidates will be informed by mail in the month of April 2019.

Fill up the Personal Details, Academic Details, Professional Details, choose the program/s you want to apply for and the respective test option/s, upload your photo & signature and Submit. (You may keep ready the scanned/digital images of your photo/signature in JPEG format, in advance. The dimensions of photo may be of about 200×250 pixels, and the signature may be of about 250×125 pixels, both images within 50 kb each in size).
