About College:

The Directorate of Distance Education of this University was established in 1997 with four different programmes namely; MBA, PGDCA, BBA & CIC. Since then a lot of head-way has been made in terms of number of programmes, number of students enrolled, number of study centres, production of quality self instructional study material (SIM) etc. Not only the new courses were added, but some of the courses were replaced by the new ones so as to make them highly job-oriented and enable the students to pursue them while being in jobs and self employment. At present 17 undergraduate and post-graduate programmes are being conducted and the learning is imparted in two modes, including directly by the directorate and through the study centres.

How to Apply:

All the admissions are made Online by filling Online Admission Form. The procedure of filling the online application form is a four step procedure, which is mentioned below:

1.      CANDIDATE REGISTRATION: Click the registration form and fill the necessary details like: Name of Candidate, Father’s Name, Date of Birth, Category, Name of Programme etc.

2.      PAYMENT OPTION: Registered candidate may deposit fee by any of the following modes of payment:

The JGEEBILS test is a shared entrance test for graduate programmes in Biology and interdisciplinary life sciences. The test originated from the TIFR annual entrance test for Biology, which was used by DBS/TIFR as well as NCBS/TIFR. The motivation for this shared test is to reduce the difficulties that students faced with multiple entrance tests, and to reduce the duplication of effort by many institutions in conducting such examinations. JGEEBILS is intended to serve as a common point for students from any science discipline or engineering to start the process to apply for biology graduate programmes around India. Participating institutions contribute questions and logistical support for conducting the examination. This year the examination will be on 9th December 2018.

Each participating institution has its own admission process and eligibility criteria. The JGEEBILS test is only one step in this. In general, applicants must apply separately to each participating institution that they are interested in. Please visit the institutional websites for details of these different entrance processes.

Admission Procedure

The admissions procedure (in all subjects, except Science Education) consists of an online test at one of the several nationwide centres, followed by interviews of shortlisted candidates. Shortlisted candidates will be called for interviews to be held during end-February to early-April, 2019.  Exact dates would be announced later. Results of the entrance examination will be announced on January 10, 2019 and students shortlisted for interview will be intimated by email.

On 28th August 2006, the Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh announced for the establishment of the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) at Bhubaneswar, which will be operated under the umbrella of Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) of Govt. of India. He announced that theNISER will facilitate the synergy between research and higher education in science. He had stated categorically that NISER will be compared with the best institutions in the country in terms of facilities and faculty.The Atomic Energy Commission, in its 182nd meeting held on 16.03.2007 approved the proposal for establishment of NISER at Bhubaneswar. Till the permanent campus comes up, NISER will be functioning from the beautiful campus of the Institute of Physics (IOP), Bhubaneswar, a renowned Institute with state-of-art infrastructure that includes an excellent library, a large computer centre and a number of outstanding research laboratories. Biological Sciences:

60% or equivalent GPA in Masters or M.Tech in any branches of Biology, Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Veterinary Sciences, Computer Sciences, Bioinformatics and Biotechnology. Students with Master’s degree in Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics having interest in pursuing a career in Biology are also encouraged to apply.

Candidates applying for admission in School of Biological Sciences should have qualified at least one National Level Exam with fellowship (CSIR-NET, DST INSPIRE, DBT, ICMR or any other equivalent) and must have valid fellowship certificate for the year 2019 at the time of application. Fellowship certificate/award letter must be submitted at the time of application.

Chemical Sciences:

60% or equivalent GPA in Masters in Chemistry or allied fields. Student with Master’s degree in any branches of Basic Sciences or M.Tech in Applied Chemistry or Computer Sciences with interest in pursuing career in Chemistry are also encouraged to apply.

Candidates applying for admission in School of Chemical Sciences, Humanities & Social Sciences and Computer Sciences should have qualified at least one of these national level examinations i.e. CSIR-UGC NET/GATE/JEST/INSPIRE (Doctoral fellowship under AORC Scheme with fellowship) or any other equivalent national level examination, valid for the current year in the relevant area of research.

Physical Sciences:

60% or equivalent GPA in Master’s degree cumulatively till the last year/semester examination appeared in M.Sc majoring in Physics or M.E./M.Tech in Applied Physics.

Candidates applying for admission in School of Physical Sciences should have qualified at least one National Level Exam i.e CSIR-UGC NET/GATE/JEST or any other equivalent national level examination valid for the current year.

Humanities and Social Sciences:

55% or equivalent GPA in Masters in Social Sciences and allied disciplines.

# Candidates with GPA need to produce the conversion note (in case it is not mentioned in their mark sheet) from their institution towards calculation of percentage.

Eligibility and Selection Process:

1.    Only Candidates who have appeared at Common Admission Test (CAT) 2018 conducted by IIMs/Xavier Admission Test (XAT) 2019 conducted by XLRI, Jamshedpur /NMAT 2018 conducted by Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) are eligible to apply.

2.    A candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India, with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate in all semesters/trimesters or equivalent CGPA, of any University incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956.

3.    The Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education.

4.    In case of the candidates being awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the equivalence would be based on the overall equivalence certified by the university/ institution from where they have obtained bachelor's degree.

5.    In case a candidate establishes that the university/ institution from which he/she graduated, does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by the PDPU-SPM by dividing earned CGPA with the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the quotient with 100.

6.    A candidate appearing for the final year semester examination of bachelor's degree or equivalent can also apply. Such candidates must have to obtain 50% marks or equivalent in aggregate of all the semesters/years.

(a)  Such candidates, if selected, will be allowed to join the programme provisionally with an undertaking to submit the final marks sheet/grade sheet not later than September 30, 2019 and the passing certificate not later than June 15, 2020 to the School.

(b)  However, the admission shall be cancellable without informing the candidate if the final marks sheet/grade sheet and the degree certificate are not submitted latest by September 30, 2019 and if the candidate has not met the prescribed eligibility criteria, in such case the fees paid will not be refundable except the deposit money.

(c)  Non-fulfilment of the above conditions/dates will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission, otherwise the admission shall stand cancelled and the fees paid will not be refundable except the deposit money

Selection Process: The candidates who appeared at CAT – 2018/XAT – 2019 and seek admission in the MBA Programme have to apply in the prescribed form, which is available on www.spm.pdpu.ac.in. The candidates short listed on the basis of aggregate CAT/XAT score will be required to appear for group discussion (GD) and personal interview (PI) at SPM, PDPU or may be at other select locations (subject to minimum applications) on the specified date(s).

Group Discussion (GD): The group discussion (GD) shall be held in a group of about 10-12 students. Students appearing at GD shall be evaluated on the set criteria.

Written Ability Test (WAT): Students shall be required to submit a written assignment on the topic announced at the time of GD and PI.

Personal Interview (PI): Students appearing at PI shall be evaluated on the set criteria. Relevance of work experience, wherever applicable may be assessed at this stage.

The GD and PI will take place for MBA programme during March 9 – 12, 2019 with an approved schedule (the GD/PI schedule will be uploaded in the School’s website).
